Brian Posehn is an American actor. He is best known for his roles in Mission Hill, The Sarah Silverman Show, and The Big Bang Theory.

Since 2004, the actor has been married to Melanie Truhett.
Posehn began his career with guest appearances on television. He was in Mr. Show with Bob and David, which ran between 1995 and 1998. He would appear in 28 episodes. In 1996, he had a guest appearance in Friends and, over the next two years, in NewsRadio, playing two different characters. In 1998, he also appeared in Seinfeld and got the opportunity to write an episode for Space Ghost: Coast to Coast.
He was in 29 episodes of Just Shoot Me!, which ran between 1999 and 2003. In 1999, he was cast as Jim in Mission Hill, an animated series, which would run between 1999 and 2002. Between 2002 and 2003, he played Del Swanson in 3 South. In 2003, he provided his voice for another animated series, Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
He would do voiceover work for Tom Goes to the Mayor. In 2005, he was featured in the pilot of The Showbiz Show with David Spade. The same year, he would appear in several episodes of Reno 911! and in The Comedians of Comedy.
In 2007, he was in Thank God You’re Here. He joined the cast of The Sarah Silverman Program as one of the central members, appearing with Steve Agee as one-half of a gay couple. He would also write for the show, penning the season three finale.
Posehn appeared in Californication, Metalocalypse, Human Giant, WordGirl, and more. In 2012, he would serve as co-writer for Metalopocalypse.
Between 2013 and 2019, Posehn portrayed Bert, a geologist, in The Big Bang Theory.
Posehn served as a writer for Marvel Now Deadpool between 2012 and 2015.
Posehn would also have various film credits. He was in Dumb and Dumber: When Harry Met Lloyd, Grind, The Devil’s Rejects, Sleeping Dogs Lie, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Surf’s Up.
He has been doing standup as well, sharing the stage with Comedy Central Presents. He has released several albums focused on comedy as well. His first album came out in 2006 under the title Live In: Nerd Rage. His music-only album Grandpa Metal came out in 2010, which offers comedy metal and metal covers of popular songs, such as What Does the Fox Say?
The actor has done voice work for games like Brutal Legend and Star Warped, as well as Halo 2.
Since 2012, he has hosted a podcast called Nerd Poker, which brings in other comedians to play Dungeons & Dragons. In 2016, Posehn took part in a D&D campaign hosted by Matthew Mercer of Critical Role fame.
Posehn is a fan of metal music.
