He married his wife Karyn in 2005. They have two children.

Professional Life

The actor got his first job on television in 1994. On television, the actor debuted in 1994 in Lifestories: Families in Crisis. After that, he made a debut in film in Origin of the Species and River Red. In 1999, he was in Man on the Moon, followed by an appearance in Unbreakable the next year. He got a recurring role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2000. The same year he had a recurring role in Level 9.

In 2001, he was in Third Watch. 2002 saw him appear in The Shield, Law & Order, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. This was followed by roles in Judging Amy, The Jury, and Kojak. In 2004, he was in Dawn of the Dead, followed by Loggerheads and Carlito’s Way: Rise to Power the next year. In 2006, he was in Invincible, followed by Broken English and Tooth & Nail. In 2008, he appeared in Changeling, The Narrows, and Tenderness. In 2009, he appeared in Law Abiding Citizen, Defendor, and Did You Hear About the Morgans?

2011 saw him appear in the film The Adjustment Bureau. The next year he was in Chronicle. In 2013, he appeared as Agent Fuller in Now You See Me and then in Man of Steel as Steve Lombard. In 2016, he was in Viral, then produced All Square in 2018, and then appeared in Outside the Wire in 2021.

Between 2006 and 2007, Kelly was part of The Sopranos, playing Agent Ron Goddard. In 2006, he came back to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, followed by a return to Law & Order in 2008. He also appeared in CSI: Miami, Fringe, Criminal Minds, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Between 2011 and 2013, he was in Person of Interest. Then, in 2013, he got the role of Doug Stamper in House of Cards and would go on to appear in 73 episodes with various prestigious nominations. His character and performance were praised by critics, as were those of his castmates, like Robin Wright. In 2016, he was in Black Mirror. 2019 saw him appear in Jack Ryan and, later, he was in The Comey Rule.
