Her early life and career beginnings

Melissa was born in America to Jewish parents Susan and David Rauch. She has an older brother, Ben. Melissa attended Marlboro High School in Marlboro Township and graduated in 2002 from Marymount Manhattan College, New York City. She developed an interest in acting and comedy from a young age.

Her first works include her role as a regular contributor to VH1 Best Week Ever television show, an American comedy series that first aired on VH1 from January 2004 to June 2009. In 2006, she debuted in a comedy-drama film Delirious as Megan and landed another short role in 2009 titled I Love You, Man appearing as a woman jogger yelling at Sidney.

Melissa was Bethany in three episodes of the 2007 television show 12 Miles of Bad Road.
