Personal Life

The actor married Anne Prince in 1999. She had two kids from a previous relationship, and Wheaton was asked to adopt both of them when they grew up, which he did.

Professional Life

Wheaton started as a child actor. His first role was in 1981 in A Long Way Home. In 1982, he did voice work for The Secret of NIMH, where he played Martin. In 1983, he was in Hambone and Hillie, The Buddy System the next year, and The Last Starfighter in 1984 as well.

In 1986, he got widespread recognition for his appearance in Stand by Me, a Stephen King film adaptation, where he played Gordie Lachance.

In Star Trek: The Next Generation, the actor played Wesley Crusher. The character was controversial, with many people being vocal in their hate for him and the actor as a result. He was in the series between 1987 and 1994, although in 1989, he stopped being a recurring character due to scheduling conflicts.

In 1991, he was in Toy Soldiers. Afterward, he attended acting school and would join the cast of various indie films, such as 2002’s Jane White Is Sick & Twisted. Other notable film roles include Neverland, Star Trek (2009), Sharknado 2: The Second One, Video Games: The Movie, and Rent-A-Pal in 2020.

Wheaton has worked extensively as a voice actor, appearing in shows like Teen Titans, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Generator Rex, Ben 10, and more. He has also done voices for important video game franchises such as Grand Theft Auto, Fallout, DC Universe Online, and others.

He has worked as a narrator for many audiobooks, such as Ready Player One, Redshirts, and others.

He has had many appearances in series, such as Numb3rs, Leverage, Criminal Minds, The Guild, Dark Matter, and others. In addition, he hosted TableTop, a board game web show.

Wil Wheaton played himself or rather a version of himself in The Big Bang Theory. He appeared in seventeen episodes total, starting in season three.

Trivia

Wheaton has shown himself to have many nerdy interests, often being featured in works related to sci-fi. In addition, he is a fan of board games and tabletop RPG games and has popularized many of these hobbies.

His character Wil Wheaton in The Big Bang Theory is mean and petty towards main character Sheldon Cooper, and he is called the man’s arch-nemesis until they make amends and become friends.  In Big Bang Theory, he worked alongside cast members Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Melissa Rauch, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik, Kevin SussmanLaura Spencer, Brian George and John Ross Bowie.

Wheaton often has taken the role of host on various programs and shows.

Wheaton has openly spoken about his mental health challenges and the difficulties of his acting experiences, and his relationship with his parents.

The actor has also worked as a writer, publishing various books. Of note is his short story that was included in the Star Wars anthology From a Certain Point of View.
