Her early life and career beginnings
Harriet grew up in Nottingham and studied acting for three years at a drama club called Circle up. She trained at the Television Workshop, a British organization that tutors interested young talents in television, film, theater, and radio performance skills. Her teacher in the drama club was the person who informed her of auditions for the workshop after three years of being there, which prompted her to partake. While training with the workshop, she took several short film roles and in Hollyoak Later, a spin-off of a British soap opera, Hollyoaks.
Harriet’s professional career life
Harriet played in short film roles like The Love Interest in 2012 and Human Beings in the same period and later joined the casts of a British soap opera, Doctors as Sienna Roberts, in an episode. She did a few theatre performances but never professionally, focusing only on television.
After learning of an audition in Manchester, the British actress responded. From 2013 to 2014, she starred alongside other starring cast members in the supernatural drama show In the Flesh as Jemima Walker. The series, which received accolades, thrust her into the limelight because of her brilliant performance. She had watched documentaries around post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety in preparation for the role she was preparing to undertake. Also, she learned people’s experiences by talking to them to help portray her part realistically accurately.
In 2015, Harriet participated in four episodes of the British crime drama Safe House as Louisa Blackwell. 2016 saw her land roles as Lizzie Hallum on an episode of the crime series Vera and in a short film as Tammy in Sweet Maddie Stone. The actress, in 2017, appeared in an episode of two television series, police procedural dramas No Offence as Sally Hislop and in Line of Duty as Jade Hopkirk.
The budding actress portrayed Gail Davidson in series two of the Crime Noir detective tv series Marcella, becoming a regular and showing up in six episodes. Also, she acted as Bambi in the short film Mercury, both in 2018.
She joined the cast of the biographical comedy-drama television series in an episode of Urban Myths as Kathy Etchingham in 2020. That year became Harriet’s turning point after Shondaland production selected her as one of the casts of the 2020 period drama Bridgerton adapted from Julia Quinn’s books, taking the role of Phillipa Featherington, the middle Featherington daughter. Although she has done notable works in the past, the regency era series thrust her into global recognition because of its worldwide success.
In Bridgerton, she worked with Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Nicola Coughlan, Jonathan Bailey, Bessie Carter, Ruth Gemmell, Claudia Jessie, Luke Newton, Luke Thompson, Polly Walker, Ruby Barker, Ben Miller, Adjoa Andoh, Julie Andrews and Golda Rosheuvel.
