In his adolescence, he returned to North London for his secondary education and adapted to new ways of life. His accent was distinguishable, with schoolmates questioning the availability of modern infrastructure in Africa, much to his dismay. Since he loved to dance, sing and act, he became a hobbyist actor in a Saturday drama school, which helped to pay minor bills. Like most teenagers, he joined a punk band and dyed his hair purple. Later on, he studied sound engineering while studying at the National Youth Theatre and two years later, graduated from the Drama Centre London in 2013.

Regé-Jean Page’s professional career life

His stage career began in the theatre when he appeared in The History Boys as Crowther in 2013 and portrayed Solanio in The Merchant of Venice in 2015. Also, in 2015, he joined the casts of a BBC school series Waterloo Road in its final season.

In his twenties, he moved to Los Angeles, America, and in 2016, made his American debut portraying Chicken George in the miniseries Roots. They filmed the remake of the 1977 miniseries from the adaptation of Alex Haley’s novel in Louisiana, with his performance exceeding people’s expectations and earning him positive reviews. The fine actor landed a role as Leonard Knox in the 2018 legal drama series For the People and a small part in Mortal Engines as Captain Khora.
He played Chico Sweetney in the 2020 Sylvie’s Love and other movies.

Having worked with Shonda Rhimes in a legal drama, Regé-Jean Page’s most significant breakthrough came when she cast him as a male lead in season one of the Regency-era drama Bridgerton as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings. It earned him many nominations that won a few awards and shot him into stardom.

As a highly sought-after actor from his success in Bridgerton, he has a range of films in the pipeline, including Dungeons & Dragons and the Netflix movie The Gray Man as one of the casts. Other projects up his alley are in the upcoming The Saint as Simon Templar and a lead role in a heist thriller for Netflix, where he also served as an executive producer.
