His early life and career beginnings

Luke’s father, an engineer, and his mother, a teacher, raised him from two outside of Paris while his father worked at Disneyland Paris. He studied at International School in Fountainbleau from 1997 to 2005 and spoke French fluently. At seventeen, he returned to Stratford, London, and joined the Year Out Drama Company, which he credits for significantly improving his life while performing and watching many shows. Luke attended the University of Bristol, where he read English and Drama and graduated in 2013 from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Luke’s professional career life

Luke has appeared in theatre productions, most notably his debut in the 2013 A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Williams Shakespeare Globe Theatre in London. He played Will Bennett in Blue Stockings, Mark Anthony in Julius Caesar at Globe theatre, and was James in Tiger Country in 2013 and 2014.

In 2014, Luke portrayed Lysander in Shakespeare’s Globe: A Midsummer Night’s Dream and played Romeo in the short film The Complete Walk: Romeo and Juliet in 2016. He was Warrant Officer in the 2017 war film Dunkirk, revolving around the historical evacuation of World War II that critics praised for its almost accurate depiction of events. His other film performances are in King Lear, where he played Edgar at the National Theatre Live, Making Noise Quietly as Oliver, and in Misbehaviour as Peter Hain.

Although he’s popularly known for his stage career, he has also appeared on television, portraying Joshua Hallows in the 2014 British series of films, specifically in The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher: The Ties that Bind. As a talented actor, it’s unsurprising that he landed the main role of Simon in the tv drama In the Club that aired on BBC One on the 5th of August 2014 and was Laertes in the television film Hamlet.

2018 was a busy year for the outstanding actor onstage and in films, yet he was in two episodes of a cyber-thriller drama series by Bryan Elsley, where he played Connor in Kiss Me First. The drama follows a seventeen-year-old Leila whose mother died. She becomes addicted to a fictional reality online game called Azana and comes in contact with Mania, whose real name is Tess. When Tess vanished, Leila was bent on uncovering the events that led to her disappearance. Luke’s next massive project was in 2020 when he became part and parcel of a Netflix period drama Bridgerton, becoming Benedict Bridgerton, the second son who is also an artist. His performance in the series became a big plus to his career, gained him an award nomination, and afforded him global fame.

In Bridgerton, he worked with Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Nicola Coughlan, Jonathan Bailey, Harriet Cains, Bessie Carter, Ruth Gemmell, Claudia Jessie, Luke Newton, Polly Walker, Ruby Barker, Ben Miller, Adjoa Andoh, Julie Andrews and Golda Rosheuvel.

His personal life
