Paul McGillion is a Canadian actor born in Scotland. He is best known for his roles in Stargate: Atlantis, Firefly Lane, and The X-Files.

The actor was born in Scotland but moved to Canada with his family when he was just two years old. He has six siblings. The actor graduated from Brock University with a degree in teaching.
Professional Life
McGillion started as a theater actor and a teacher. Eventually, he made the move to acting on screen as well.
The actor appeared in Stargate SG-1, playing Ernest Littlefield. In 2004, he was cast in Stargate Atlantis as Carson Beckett. His character started as a recurring part and then was promoted to main for the next two seasons. In the following seasons, four and five, he was also a recurring character.
His film debut occurred in 1995 in The Final Goal. Other notorious film roles include Skullduggery, A Guy Thing, Romeo!, Star Trek (2009), Tomorrowland, Death Note, and Skyscraper.
In addition to his role in Stargate, the actor has appeared in various series. He was in The X-Files in 1997. In 2003, he was in Smallville. In 2004, he appeared in Cold Squad and began his tenure on Stargate: Atlantis, where he would go on to appear in 60 episodes until 2009. The actor is widely remembered for his role. He would continue to appear even after his character officially died, taking advantage of the sci-fi and fantastic elements of the setting.
He was in Sanctuary between 2007 and 2010. He would later go on to appear in 24 and Supernatural in 2009 and 2015, in V in 2010, and in Fringe and Once Upon a Time in 2012. In 2018, he appeared in The Flash in a recurring role and in Frontier, also with a recurring character.
In 2021, the actor was cast in Firefly Lane as Bud. Firefly Lane is a successful Netflix drama starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke, following two women since their teenage years and well into adulthood. Bud would be a recurring character, appearing in six episodes of this show, recently renewed for a second season by the streaming service. 2021 also saw the actor appear in A Million Little Things.
In Firefly lane, he was seen alongside cast members Katherine Heigl, Ali Skovbye, Sarah Chalke, Ben Lawson, Roan Curtis, Yael Yurman, Andres Joseph, Beau Garrett, Brandon Jay Mclaren, Brendan Taylor, Chelah Horsdal, Jason Mckinnon, Jenna Rosenow, Jon Michael Ecker and Quinn Lord.
In 2022, the actor is set to appear in Voluntary.

McGillion used to be part of a wrestling team while in college.
The actor has won Leo Award for Lead Actor for his role in A Fine Young Man.
McGillion tried to audition for the role of Scotty in Star Trek. While he did not get the part, he did appear in the reboot movies in a different role. He was in the 2009 reboot movie with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, with Simon Pegg taking over the role of Scotty.
In addition to his role in Stargate, the actor has appeared in different speculative shows, such as Supernatural, Once Upon a Time, another incarnation of Stargate, Fringe, and others.
