Who is Taylor Armstrong?
Taylor Armstrong is an American socialite and reality TV personality. She is best known for appearing in the reality series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Independence, Kansas, the United States of America
Armstrong was born Shana Lynette Hughes. She grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, she changed her name to Taylor Ford and moved to Beverly Hills. She met Russell Armstrong, her husband, in a restaurant. A year later, they married and had a daughter called Kennedy Caroline in 2006. Armstrong divorced in 2011, and a month later, her ex was found dead of suicide. In 2014, she married attorney John Bluher.
Armstrong started out as an e-commerce entrepreneur. In 2008, she was in The Hills. In 2010, she was cast in the Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Armstrong would be featured as part of the cast. Unfortunately, her tenure would be linked to rumors of domestic violence, which was confirmed later, leading to divorce after her husband gave her a fracture that required surgery. They became estranged, and then he committed suicide after their divorce.
The divorce occurred during the filming of the second season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
In 2014, Armstrong was in Couples Therapy as herself.
In 2019, Taylor Armstrong was featured in a meme that took the Internet by storm. Known as “woman yelling at cat,” the meme featured a screen capture of a crying Armstrong with a cast member, Kyle Richards, trying to console her. The image was juxtaposed with the photo of a cat sitting at a table near a plate of vegetables. The image became very popular and was widely used with different captions. While it captured a distressing moment for Armstrong, she has responded positively to its popularity, and it continues to be shared today.
In 2021, Armstrong filmed the second season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip at Blue Stone Manor in The Berkshires.
Taylor Armstrong has become an advocate against domestic violence and does speaking events for fundraising and similar goals. In addition, she has helped fundraising efforts for families that have experienced domestic violence.
Armstrong wrote the book Hiding from Reality about her experiences and the contrast between the life she seemed to have on the reality series and the darker experiences lurking behind, which ended with a facial fracture and her husband’s suicide.
Armstrong was a cheerleader in high school.
The meme featuring Armstrong, called woman yelling at cat, uses a screen capture of the celebrity in the second season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. It also uses the image of a white cat named Smudge, with a particular facial expression. Smudge has an Instagram account and has become world-famous as well.
The meme has a darker side. It reportedly captures a moment when Armstrong is upset and discussing her alleged abuse, but the meme removes this context and is used widely in all kinds of situations.
