Lewis married actress Helen McCrory in 2007. They had two kids together. Unfortunately, McCrory passed away in 2021 due to cancer.

Lewis started working in television in 1993, appearing in A Touch of Frost. In 1997, he was in Robinson Crusoe, and in 2000, in Hearts and Bones.
