Her early life and career beginnings

Rachel was born to nurse Sandra and truck driver Lance McAdams. She’s the first of three children. Her younger sister Kayleen is a makeup artist, and her brother Daniel McAdams is a personal trainer. The actress shared a son with screenwriter Jamie Linden.
Rachel had such an eventful childhood and teenage years. She developed an interest in skating at the young age of four. She declined an opportunity to move to Toronto for training in skating and continued to compete locally in skating until she turned eighteen and won regional awards.
Rachel took an interest in performing at the age of seven and attended Disney and Shakespeare summer camps as a kid. At twelve, she involved herself in Original Kids Theatre Company, London Productions, and later became a director of Children’s Theatre Company in her late teens.
She attended Myrtle Street Public School and Central Elgin Collegiate Institute. She did a four-year theatre program at York University in 2001 and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts honors degree.

Rachel McAdams’ on-screen debut was in 2001 on the Disney’s channel Television series The Famous Jett Jackson, and her role in the Canadian Tv as Beth Swanson in the same year.
Rachel portrayed Christine Bickwell in the 2002 Earth: Final Conflict and Danielle Mason in Guilt by Association. Between 2003 and 2005, she was McNeil in seven episodes of Slings and Arrows.

She is famous for her role as Regina George in the 2004 comedy Mean Girls.
Rachel’s films include featuring in the 2002 Canadian|Italian film My Name is Tanino. A summer romance comedy as Sally Garfield. In the same year, she portrayed a young Patsy Grady in the film Perfect Pie. She was Jessica Spencer in The Hot Chick. In 2004, Rachel portrayed Regina George in the famous Mean Girls. She also starred as Allison Hamilton in The Notebook, about a wealthy woman caught in the middle of choosing between her fiancé and her first love. Rachel acted in Wedding Crashers, Red Eye, and the Family Stone in 2005. In 2007, she acted in Married Life and the Lucky Ones (2008) as Colee Dunn.

She was the lead actress in season 2 of the 2015 True Detective. She has continued to feature and star in many other films, including 2018 Game Night as Annie Davies. Rachel won a performance award at the Sears Ontario Drama Festival. In 2021, Rachel McAdams voiced Christine Palmer in What If.She had an Oscar Nomination for her role as Boston Globe Reporter in the 2015 drama spotlight.
