Her early life and career beginnings
Michelle was a shy girl who moved at four to the beautiful island of Kailua, Hawaii, with her family after living in Canada for a while. She attended Kaelepulu Elementary, La Pietra Hawaii School, Iolani School, and then graduated from Myron B. Thompson Academy in Honolulu, Hawaii.
At seventeen, her friend suggested modeling to her because she was stunning. Although she aspired to become a chef or an architect, life had other plans when a local agency discovered her at about seventeen and introduced her to IMG models after two years.
She never in her wildest dreams imagined that she would grace global magazines except for constant remarks about her close semblance to other famous models. She also worked for a Japanese golf magazine while living in Hawaii.
Michelle’s professional career life
After signing with IMG models, she moved to New York City to pursue professional modeling. Her life changed positively, appearing on feature films, the editorial of Italian Vogue, and Vanity Fair Italia alongside other models, Arthur Sales, Catrinel Marlon, and Quinta Witzel. She also appeared in the Lighter than Air editorial for Ocean Drive, a luxury lifestyle and fashion magazine that has featured other renowned models like Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, Chrissy Teigen, Miranda Kerr, etc.
Michelle made her debut on the coveted Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The photoshoot took place in Australia by photographer Walter Looss. Their first location was in Cairns, a little fun town that she thinks has an uncanny resemblance with the laidback village she grew up in, Hawaii.
Next, they shot at white sand, blue water beach that they took a helicopter to. After the shoot, the gorgeous model became more publicized as expected of someone who appeared on the cover of a world-class magazine.
Before releasing the Sports Illustrated magazine, she had already met the editors and did a photoshoot only with her mother’s knowledge. Nobody else knew until the magazine’s release. It has always been her dream to work with Sports Illustrated since she admired the lives of models affiliated with them until she became one of the lucky six chosen for the job in 2012.
Michelle gained worldwide recognition from working with notable brands. Appearing in commercials for the likes of Rock & Republic jeans, lingerie, and swimsuit companies, and editorials for the Cosmopolitan US, Spring/Summer 2013 Galore Magazine, Indian Vogue, and others.
Nowadays, she studies acting and has acted in films and television, including Into the Blue, The Reef, Lethal Weapon, Good Bones, Hawaii Five-0, etc.
Her personal life
Michelle took to Instagram to announce her engagement to Ariel Taylor on 22nd March 2021. They own a cute Bleu Merle Aussie dog, Dylan.
She is passionate about reading, writing, dancing, traveling, cooking, and swimming. She’s a good swimmer and formerly competed in Kailua, Hawaii.
