Brian Hutchison is an American actor. He is best known for appearing in The Boys in the Band, Blue Bloods, and Lisey’s Story.

Personal Life

Hutchison has a BA in English from Lafayette College, as well as a Master of Fine Arts from the University of San Diego. He married Ron Maggio, a real estate agent, in 2018.

Professional life

Hutchinson started acting in theater. His first role was as a standby actor in Proof on Broadway, and he would do several Broadway productions, such as 2001’s The Invention of Love, 2009’s Exit the King, 2010’s Looped, 2011’s Man and Boy, and 2018’s The Boys in the Band. He would reprise his role as Alan in the 2020 Netflix adaptation of the play.

Off-Broadway, Hutchison started acting in 2003 with Can’t Let Go. His latest role was in How to Transcend a Happy Marriage in 2017, where he played Michael.

Hutchison’s first role in a film was in 1995, however, the next one would not follow until 2005 with Dealbreaker. He was in Ghost Town in 2008 and in Love & Other Drugs in 2010.

In 2013, he played Phil in Vino Veritas, followed by a role in Winter’s Tale the following year. In 2015, he was in Bridge of Spies. In 2020, he had his most prominent film role with The Boys in the Band, where he once more took the role of Alan.

Hutchison has also had a prolific career on television. He first appeared in Law & Order: Criminal Intent as Detective Bruno in 2004. The next year he was in the sister show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Then, in 2006, he was in The Good Wife.

In 2013, Hutchison played Brian Moss for three episodes of Person of Interest. He also appeared on Do No Harm the same year for two episodes. In 2015, he was in Show Me a Hero, followed by a role in Vinyl in 2016.

In 2017, he returned to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, playing Frank Wilson. He also appeared in Elementary.

In 2018, he played Dale Holiday on Jessica Jones and Dr. James Walters on Instinct. Starting in 2018, he was also cast as Father Justin DiNardo on Madam Secretary and would also appear in the role in 2019.

In 2019, the actor appeared in Chicago Med, Blue Bloods, and Godfather of Harlem. In 2020, he played Mitch Russo in two episodes of The Sinner. He also appeared in FBI: Most Wanted. The actor would also play Chief Craig Richards in Lisey’s Story, the adaptation of the Stephen King novel, which follows a woman who has lost her husband.

The actor has done extensive work voicing audiobooks. He has done over 150 titles for Audible, Recorded Books, Blackstone Audio, and Simon & Schuster.

Brian’s brother Chris Hutchison is also an actor.
