She faced her fair share of rejection in London before being cast in the Alexander McQueen runway show in 1998. In that same year, she posed for Valentino, Missoni, Ralph Lauren, Versace, and other extensive name campaigns and appeared on her first cover of British Vogue. She left Elite Model Management and signed with IMG models in1999.

Her modeling career was fast-rising, and she won the VH1 Vogue Model of the year. She appeared in major campaigns and a group Vogue cover with many other supermodels, including Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, and other high-caliber models at age 18. She was named The Most Beautiful Girl in the World and became the 4th model to grace Rolling Stone magazine in 2000.
