About Bar Rafaeli
Bar Rafaeli is an Israeli-born supermodel.
Hod HaSharon, Israel
Her early life and career beginnings
The beautiful model was born and raised in Israel to a secular Jewish family. Her father, Rafi Rafaeli, is a horse stable owner, while her mother was a former successful model in the 1970s.
As a gorgeous baby girl whose mother was a model, she naturally began modeling as a child, appearing in commercials, photoshoots, and advertisements until twelve, after which she took a break because of her braces and returned to the scene when she turned fifteen. An Israeli fashion awards ceremony awarded her Model of the Year in 2000 because of her outstanding modeling skills. Bar Rafaeli, at this time, appeared in fashion campaigns, including for Castro and Pilpel, and starred in a Milky pudding commercial.
Bar Rafaeli’s professional career life
Bar Rafaeli quickly went global, appearing in editorials for several editions of Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel, V, GQ, i-D, and Allure. She also appeared on various international covers of Elle, Marie Claire, GQ, Maxim, and Esquire.
As a highly sought-after model, she appeared in many advertising campaigns for fashion brands like Victoria’s Secret, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Escada, Marks and Spencer, Gap, True Religion, and non-fashion brands like Samsung, Moët & Chandon, Subaru, and the likes.
In her burgeoning modeling career, she achieved the rare feat of becoming the second Israeli model to appear in Sports Illustrated magazine. Her cover for the 2009 issue prompted Southwest Airlines to paint the bikini-clad model on the side of its Boeing 737, much to the chagrin of some passengers who outrightly criticized the airline for their offensive display.
She appeared on the cover of the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Bar Rafaeli was voted No. 1 on Maxim’s magazine Hot 100 list of 2012, and Shalom Life also placed her fourth on its 50 most talented, intelligent, funny, and gorgeous Jewish women in the world. She was also the highest-paid Israeli model in 2013, according to Forbes Israel, amongst other notable awards.
Bar Rafaeli’s other ventures
Other than her modeling career, she is a television host who has hosted The Xfactor Israel since 2013 and also was a co-host of Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. She also co-hosted Fashionable Istanbul’s press conference in 2009 and other shows.
She has featured and starred in music videos, films, and televisions and was a guest judge in 2009 for Project Runway Israel and Germany’s Next Topmodel in 2011.
