About Kathleen Beller
Kathleen Beller is an American actress who has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Supporting Role for her acting performance in the 1979s Promises in the Dark. She was also well remembered for her role as Kirby Anders in the popular prime-time soap opera Dynasty. Kathleen also had a small role in the cult classic gangster action film The Godfather Part II, as well as having a role in the 1978 film The Betsy.
Early life before fame
Kathleen started her acting career when she appeared in several commercials. After that, she made her professional television debut in 1971 when she portrayed the role of Liza Walton Sentell in the popular daytime soap opera Search for Tomorrow, which was written by Denise Nickerson. Kathleen appeared on the show until 1974, after which she quit in order to move from New York City to Los Angeles. After arriving in Los Angeles, Don Most arranged an agent for her. Her first film debut was in a small role in 1974’s The Godfather Part II. She portrayed an actress that was featured in the play that Genco Abbandando and the young Vito Corleone attended. Later on, she received more recognition for her roles in television, appearing in several TV movies and being a guest star in such notable TV series as Dynasty. Kathleen also played Betsy in the 1978’s The Betsy. This role meant a lot to Kathleen as she was hoping that it would start her film career as she wanted to transition from television to film.
She appeared in such TV movies as Are You in the House Alone (1978) and Mary White (1977). Kathleen has stated in an interview that the casting procedure for Mary White was very exhausting as it lasted for nearly three weeks, with daily auditions throughout the time. She appeared in guest roles in several films, such as the musical comedy Movie Movie (1978). Kathleen also portrayed a cancer patient in the 1979’s Promises in the Dark. For her role in Promises in the Dark, Kathleen spent nearly three months preparing for it. She has since stated that it was her favorite role to play. The film did earn Kathleen a Golden Globe nomination.
Personal life and relationships
Kathleen was married to actor Michael Hoit (1980-1986). Currently, she is married to the musician Thomas Dolby since 1988, and they have three children together.
