His early life and career beginnings

He is the eldest of three sons. His mother, Carolyn, was a teacher, and his father, Pharoah Williams, was a handyman. Williams attended Princess Anne High School and Northwestern University for two years before he dropped out. Pharrell Williams formed a hip hop group with Hugo, Timberland, and Magos Surrounded by Idiots in the early 1990s. They disbanded before they made any record.
Williams and saxophonist Chad Hugo met in high school, and they teamed up to form the hip hop and R&b production duo The Neptunes’ in the early 1990s, producing songs for recording artists.
In 1999, Williams formed a band N.E.R.D with Hugo and drummer Shay Haley and became the lead vocalist in the same year. They soon entered a high school talent show, and producer Teddy Riley discovered them. Williams wrote three original songs for the film Despicable Me. In 2006, Williams’ solo album In My Mind made its debut. He worked in Shakira’s 6th studio album The Wolf in 2009 and many others. In 2013, Williams collaborated with Daft Punk on his songs Get Lucky and Lose Yourself to Dance. He was announced as a performer in Wembley Stadium London on July 1, 2007, at the Concert for Diana, and also performed at the 2015 Grammy Award and several others.
