Early life before fame
Aisling grew up in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. She is the daughter of Irish parents. Her mother’s name is Eileen, and her father is called Paddy. Aisling has an older sister called Aoife.
Aisling knew she wanted to become an actress from a very early age, and by the time she was nine, she was already performing at the Carlton Workshops and later on to her A-Levels at the Becket School in Nottingham. Aisling has played numerous small roles in television series, including This Is England.
Her acting career
Aisling had her breakthrough role when she appeared in an episode of Peak Practice in 2000. After her first role, she was quickly noticed by other casting directors and producers and went on to appear in such television series as the British police procedural drama The Bill, British medical soap opera Doctors, British medical drama series Casualty, and ITV’s comedy-drama The Fattest Man in Britain starring opposite Timothy Spall and Bobby Ball.
Aisling was described as “a star of tomorrow” by Screen International magazine in 2008. She also appeared in Daniel Elliot’s short film Jade, for which she won a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2009.
2010 was a good year for Aisling, as she was cast in the BBC drama Five Daughters as the murder victim Gemma Adams. In July of the very same year, she was also cast in the leading female role in BBC’s drama Dive (written and produced by the BAFTA award-winning Dominic Savage and Simon Stevens). She appeared alongside such esteemed actors as Eddie Masan, Gina McKee, Joseph Mawle, Ewen Bremner, and Jack O’Connell. After the release of Dive, critics praised the film universally, and Euan Ferguson of The Observer was quoted as saying that Loftus will be the new “phenomenon” in the acting industry.
Aisling also played Leonie Fowler in the summer office box hit Spur of the Moment (Written by Anya Reiss and produced at the Royal Court Theatre in 2010).
In 2011 Aisling starred in a new BBC TV film version of The Borrowers, as Arrietty. Afterward, she appeared in two other BBC series. Aisling played Cassandra in Good Cop and Jade in Public Enemies, and in 2013 she appeared in her most notable role to date as Agnes Towler in ITV’s Mr. Selfridge. Aisling’s most recent role was in 2016 when she played Sonya Rostova in the BBC’s prime-time drama War & Peace.
It is currently unknown whether Aisling is dating someone, and if we had to take an educated guess, she is most likely single as there hasn’t been anything to suggest otherwise.
