Geroge Clooney made his acting debut when he starred in a television show in 1978, later on gaining wider recognition for his role as Dr. Doug Ross on the medical drama ER, which ran from 1994 to 1999. He received two Primetime Emmy Awards nominations for his performance.
His role on ER made him a very sought-after actor for a variety of leading roles in films, with his breakthrough role being the movie From Dusk till Dawn (1996) and the crime comedy Out of Sight (1998), where he first worked and developed a long-lasting work relationship with Steven Soderbergh, with whom he would collaborate a lot in the future.
In 1999 Clooney took the lead role in the movie Three Kings, as well as appeared in war satire Gulf War which received praise from the critics.

2001 was a big year for Clooney as his fame had widened considerably because of the release of Soderbergh’s heist comedy remake Ocean’s Eleven. This would go on to become a trilogy series. The movie starred Clooney in the main role. He also made his first directional attempt a year later with the biographical spy comedy Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and has since also directed the historical drama Good Night and Good Luck (2005), also directing the sports comedy Leatherheads (2008), the war film The Monuments Men (2014), and the political drama The Ides of March (2011).

Clooney has been nominated for Academy Awards in no less than six different categories, a record that he shares with Alfonso Cuaron, Brad Pitt, and Walt Disney. With Brad Pitt being the only other actor who’s also won both the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Picture.

Early life

Clooney’s mother, Nina Bruce, was a beauty queen and councilwoman, his father, Nick Clooney, was an anchorman and television host, including working five years on the AMC network. George Clooney is of German, Irish, and English ancestry. He found out that his maternal great-great-great-great-grandmother, Mary Ann Sparrow, was the half-sister of President Abraham Lincolns mother. Clooney also has an older sister Adelia, who is a cabaret singer.
George attended the Blessed Sacrament School in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. He then also went to St. Michael’s School in Worthington, Ohio, afterwards moving to Western Row Elementary School (a public school), which was in Mason, Ohio (1968-1974).

Personal life

Clooney is married to Amal Alamuddin, a British-Lebanese human rights lawyer. They got married on April 28, 2014.
