Whiskey Would knows how to turn live music into a celebration. Blending Country, Rock, Southern Rock, and Blues, the band creates an energetic sound driven by commanding vocals, seasoned musicianship, and a genuine enthusiasm for performing.
From familiar favorites to original material, Whiskey Would builds shows around music that gets people moving. Every performance carries its own personality, giving audiences plenty of reasons to sing along, dance, and enjoy the moment.
A Sound Built for the Live Stage

Whiskey Would’s musical identity comes from bringing several beloved genres together naturally. Country provides the storytelling and grit. Rock supplies the power. Southern Rock adds swagger, while Blues brings warmth and soul.
That combination gives the group plenty of room to move across styles throughout a performance. One moment can carry the unmistakable punch of classic rock, while another leans into country rhythms or a blues-inspired groove. The band’s original songs fit comfortably alongside recognizable covers, helping each set feel varied and approachable.
At the front is lead vocalist Kelsey Penrose, the newest member of Whiskey Would. Her powerful, playful vocal approach gives the band a distinctive presence. With influences and material ranging from Led Zeppelin to Stevie Nicks, Penrose brings range, personality, and a lifelong passion for music to the microphone. Her enthusiasm translates directly to the audience, making her a natural focal point for the group’s lively shows.
Experienced Musicians Bring the Whiskey Would Sound to Life
Behind the lead vocals is a lineup shaped by years of varied musical experience.
Tom Fitzgerald handles lead guitar, bringing a background that stretches from metal and rock & roll to jazz fusion. After leaving military service, Fitzgerald toured with metal bands along the West Coast and continued developing his playing through numerous musical projects. Influences including Steve Morse, Joe Satriani, and Joe Perry helped shape his guitar style. His roots near the Blue Ridge Parkway also give Country and Blues a familiar place in his musical vocabulary. When his Les Paul appears, Whiskey Would’s rock side comes alive.
Ariel Lopez provides drums and vocals. Having started playing drums at a young age, Lopez has spent years performing with bands and developing an instinctive feel for rhythm. Rock, Country, and Blues all find their way into his playing. Alongside his drumming, he contributes higher harmonies that add another layer to the band’s vocal sound.
Ian McCormack completes the rhythm section on bass and vocals. Albums such as Deep Purple’s Machine Head and The Who’s Quadrophenia inspired his early fascination with bass, particularly the work of Roger Glover and John Entwistle. McCormack has performed and completed studio work across the United States, including stops from Boston and Memphis to Atlanta and Columbus. He also attended Berklee College of Music.
Together, Lopez and McCormack create a sturdy rhythmic foundation while Fitzgerald adds guitar fire and Penrose delivers the lead voice.
Music, Personality, and a Crowd-First Approach
Whiskey Would understands that a memorable show depends on connection. The musicians bring technical experience to the stage, yet their personality remains central to the experience. They want audiences involved, smiling, singing, and having fun.
That philosophy makes the group especially suited to festivals, fairs, live music venues, and events where atmosphere matters. Their combination of originals and crowd-friendly covers gives listeners something recognizable while introducing them to Whiskey Would’s own musical character.
There’s also a sense of camaraderie running through the group. Each member arrives with different influences and experiences, creating a broad musical foundation. Their shared love of Country, Rock, Southern Rock, and Blues keeps those influences moving in the same direction.
For audiences, that means a Whiskey Would performance can travel through multiple musical moods while maintaining a consistent identity. The signature lead vocals, guitar-driven energy, steady rhythm section, and harmonies tie everything together.

About Gary Williams

Part keyboard wizard, part guitar slinger, part microphone menace, Gary keeps the music moving as a keyboardist, rhythm guitarist, and vocalist for Whiskey Would. With a love of 70s and 80s Arena Rock, he brings a good mix of energy, musical curiosity, and the right amount of whiskey chaos to every show.
His musical journey started with playing piano at age four, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Saxophone performance eventually leading to being a contracted keyboardist/songwriter in pioneering 80s Christian New Wave band Bash-n-the Code. Gary was also co-writer of the their top ten charting song “More Than Enough”. Gary is happiest when there’s a song to play and a crowd to share it with. His philosophy is simple: you can be the best musician in the world, but if you aren’t fun and entertaining stay in your basement.
And yes, he probably brought too many instruments to the gig
