Papa Courtney has been on a unique musical journey, driven by his deep love for creating music. Over the past few years, he has found solace and expression in his guitar, channeling personal experiences and emotions into his songs. With a dedication to crafting meaningful melodies, his music speaks to fans worldwide. Now, at 53, Papa Courtney reflects on his life’s chapters and continues to build a strong following through his authentic and heartfelt sound.
The Start of a New Chapter in Music
Papa Courtney’s passion for music started long ago, but it wasn’t until recent years that he truly began dedicating time to songwriting. Life, as he describes, was busy. He raised three boys and took care of his aging parents until his father passed in 2020, and his mother followed in 2023. The passing of his mother left an especially deep mark on him. He recalls the 15 days spent by her side, watching her health decline, which became a life-changing experience. After her passing, Papa Courtney made a promise to himself that he wouldn’t fade away in memory. Instead, he decided to leave behind something tangible, a legacy in music.
With a clear vision in mind, he started writing songs, and in just nine months, Papa Courtney had composed 16 original tracks. Each song reflects his personal growth as a musician. His journey, as he humorously puts it, has been on a “thin spaghetti budget,” yet despite the challenges, his determination has brought him to where he is today.
Popular Songs That Define His Sound
While Papa Courtney’s musical career is still growing, several of his songs have gained traction and recognition. His popular releases include:
- Last Chance
- Slip Away
- FOR YOU!!!
- Lift You Up!!!
- Babe
- Left Behind
These tracks showcase his ability to write songs that resonate with fans, blending raw emotion with chill, laid-back vibes. His approach to songwriting comes from a place of honesty and self-expression, which is why his music continues to strike a chord with so many.
YouTube Success and Growing Momentum
Papa Courtney’s biggest platform right now is YouTube, where he has built a loyal audience of 15,000 subscribers. His channel continues to grow, and his latest song, You’re All You Got, has already achieved remarkable success. Released just 12 days ago, it has amassed 15,000 views, a reflection of how his music is gaining more attention.
For Papa Courtney, the journey isn’t about fame but about connecting with people through his music. He’s a simple guy with something to say, and what better way to do it than through melodies and lyrics that come from the heart? At 53, he embraces the idea that age is just a number, allowing him to continue creating without limitation.
Despite working on a tight budget, Papa Courtney is actively seeking help from a producer and sound engineer to refine his older songs and enhance future projects. With the right support, he believes his music can reach its full potential.
On the Road with Sexy Rexy

Alongside his loyal companion, Sexy Rexy—a shepherd-malamute mix—he’s meeting fans, sharing his music, and building personal connections with listeners. Traveling has provided him with fresh inspiration for his music, and he continues to work on new material while on the road.
His next song is already in the works, with one of the guitar parts finished, and he expects to release it soon. While his goal is to write a new song every four weeks, his life on the road brings an element of unpredictability. Regardless, he remains committed to his craft and is excited about what the future holds.

We had the privilege of interviewing the Music Artist. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
My name is PAPA COURTNEY. I’m a simple guy who has something to say, and what better way to say it than along some chill, laidback music. I’m 53 years old, but thank the lord, that age is just a number. Lol, whew, thanks, big guy lol. I come from Germany originally but have lived in Arizona since 1983. I raised my kids and three boys and took care of my parents until their passing.
Please tell us about your journey.
I have been playing guitar for about 40 years and have always loved creating music. I could just play for hours, and it feels like minutes; I’m hooked, lol. I raised my three boys and took care of my aging parents after that. Dad passed away in 2020, and my mom passed away in 2023, but my mom’s passing hit me in a way that I will never forget. I basically watched her die for 15 days, and I remember thinking after she had passed that now she was just a memory, and they fade away; I’m not going out like that. So I started writing songs, and nine months later, I have 16 songs that I really think are all pretty good. You can hear my progression with each song, and I’m doing all this on a thin spaghetti budget, lol; I’m looking for someone to help me produce and a sound engineer to help me master my older songs again.
My biggest platform is YouTube right now, with 15,000 subscribers, and my new song, Your All You Got, has been out for 12 days and has hit 15,000 views already.
At the moment, I’m traveling from Arizona to New York, trying to meet as many people as possible and get my name and music out there. I and my pal, SEXY REXY shepherd malamute mix, is on the road as I’m writing this, and I’m working on my next song, which I should hopefully have done in a few weeks. I just finished 1 of the guitar parts, so it’s coming along. I try to write a new song every four weeks or so, but being on the road, it might be quicker or slower; time will tell lol. My strategy right now is to go meet the people one FAN at a time. If I have to, I think my music is pretty chill, and like I said, I’m looking for that little bit of help to make it as good as it deserves to be.
Any message for our readers
A special message would maybe be, please just give me a chance and at least one listen. I promise you won’t be disappointed. My biggest platform is YouTube, but I’m on TikTok, Instagram, Pandora, iHeart, apple, amazon, and, of course, the very AWESOME AWESOME SPOTIFY; I’m at a lot of places, and please comment. I love my fans and will reply 100%, and it is me replying. It might take me a couple of days, but the FANS is what it really is all about.
How can people find out about you?
Well, just ask. I’m pretty easygoing; google me. Like I said, YouTube right now is my biggest platform, or email me; I am pretty easy to find, I hope lol.
Thank you so much, PAPA COURTNEY, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
