We had the privilege of interviewing Jub. Here are excerpts from the interview.

Hi Jub, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.

Hi, I make music out of STL. My name is a play on words, so it’s not literally ItsJustJub; it’s just Jub.

Please tell us about your latest single.

My latest single, Problems, tackles the dark battles some face within themselves. Whether it’s because of a mental illness or some environmental factor, everybody experiences something that drains dopamine in some way, shape, or form. I made it for anybody going through something that’s having a hard time understanding.

Please share your journey with our readers.

Well, my journey began in my senior year of high school when I first realized that music is what I do best besides food. Thankful to both choir teachers, Mr Arnold and Mrs Peach-Maunder, for everything I have learned about myself and my relationship with music. I really delved deep into more local artists around the STL area. Attended a few underground rap battles and small performances. I was even blessed to experience the Pops venue. It really cemented my want to be an artist. From there, my friend and I experimented with different sounds and different lyrics to come up with something unique. That was 2017/18. Fast forward to 2020, and I met fellow artist Adonis Faison, and through his guidance, I was able to really start my music career by releasing an EP compiled of what is cemented as my start in the music industry.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

More so a mindset than a strategy, I would say; I always reminded myself why I make music. Yes, I would love for being an artist to be my full-time job, but ultimately, “I’d like to teach the world to sing”. This means that I want to teach the world to speak whatever is going on, good or bad. Nobody should feel like they need to be silent.

Any message for our readers?

If my music doesn’t do it for you, I hope you at least take the message I’m giving.

Thank you so much, Jub, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
