Every song we make is part of something bigger.
Please tell us about the Latest Album.
Our new album is called We Make Fire, They Make Smoke. It’s a nine-track, genre-defying ride through everything from cinematic string sections to fuzzed-out guitars and punk backbone. We recorded it live at Aardvark Studios near our hometown and brought in collaborators like Ken Stringfellow, Bruce Hoffman, Dallas Dwight, and the Maverick Smith Orchestra. The album’s not just a collection of songs—it’s a full album meant to be played top to bottom, with every track tied into the next like chapters of a story.
Please tell us about your journey.
We’re a multi-generational crew of musical outsiders from different backgrounds—punk shows, string quartets, noise bands, singer-songwriter circuits. What we had in common was a need to make something that felt real. We started with voice memos and loose ideas, then built them out together in the studio. What came out wasn’t about fitting into a genre—it was about trusting the process, chasing moments, and letting each song grow into itself.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
We didn’t follow a formula—we followed instinct. Every track had to earn its place, and every take had to feel alive. We recorded as much as possible live, avoided overproduction, and stayed true to the messy, beautiful heart of each song. Collaborating with artists who elevated the sound without polishing out the soul also helped reshape how we approached the record. And honestly? We trust our listeners. We build albums for people who still believe in the long play.
