A Path Rooted in Cleveland
Lil KMV’s story begins in Cleveland, Ohio, where he spent the first eight years of his life. Even at a young age, he felt a pull toward music and discovered a passion for creating lyrics that spoke straight from his heart. He began writing and performing in the fifth grade, finding joy in the raw expression of emotion that music allowed. Despite his early enthusiasm, life took an unexpected turn when a family emergency prompted his family to pack up and move to Surprise, Arizona. Though he found himself in unfamiliar surroundings, he never lost sight of the music that kept him grounded.

After roughly a year or two in Surprise, his family moved again—this time to Buckeye, Arizona’s S 230th. This is where he spent the rest of his school years, carrying his musical dreams with him along the way. During this period, he dabbled in recording by using only his phone and a speaker, since he hadn’t yet figured out how to overlay the beat directly on his phone. To him, it was all about finding any way possible to bring his ideas to life, even if that meant turning a phone into a makeshift microphone.
Freestyling and Early Experiments
When he first tried his hand at freestyling, Lil KMV found a creative outlet on SoundCloud. He would rap over tracks, holding his phone up to a speaker that played the beat. These humble beginnings gave him a taste of what it was like to put his voice out into the world. However, after COVID came around, he found himself uncertain of how to push forward. Although he wanted to take music more seriously, the path wasn’t entirely clear, and he briefly stepped back to focus on high school.

Still, the lure of making music proved hard to resist. He eventually reconnected with someone he refers to as “my nigga Poe Poe,” and they started hanging out, running around town, and immersing themselves in the local scene. Along the way, Lil KMV became part of 2G, a group that would shape his future musical ambitions. He also created the name KMV, which stands for “Keep Motion Valid,” a personal motto that extends into everyday life—whether it’s chasing financial goals, maintaining good hygiene, or simply staying true to oneself.
Challenges in High School
Lil KMV’s high school experience took a turbulent turn during the 2021-2022 school year at Youngker High School. He was caught selling a weed pen in the bathroom, which led to his expulsion. He remembers the incident vividly, saying, “It felt like they were setting me up, the way he came into the bathroom silent and nobody said a thing.”

Once the trouble started, things snowballed. He began skipping school, ditching class, and getting into fights. He was also involved in forming and joining different cliques, trying to find a place he could truly call his own. Music was always a backdrop to these difficult moments, but his focus wavered as he grappled with the challenges of teenage life.
Despite these setbacks, his commitment to music never completely faded. If anything, the turmoil pushed him to channel his frustrations and experiences into his art. His songs became an outlet for everything he was going through—the highs, the lows, and the life lessons he picked up along the way.
Looking Ahead: MOT WRLD
Now that he’s found more stable ground, Lil KMV is eager to share new projects with the world. He has announced that his next project, titled MOT WRLD, will be released on February 28th. Fans who have followed his journey—starting from those homemade SoundCloud freestyles to his more polished recordings—are excited to see how his sound has grown and evolved. Given that his music draws directly from real-life experiences, there is every reason to believe this project will be as honest and heartfelt as his early work.
For anyone new to Lil KMV’s style or curious about his backstory, it’s easy to dive in and explore. His tracks are available on Spotify and Apple Music. Listening to his music feels like reading a personal journal, filled with raw emotion, personal triumphs, and trials that shaped him along the way.
Above all, Lil KMV lives by the belief that “KMV” stands for “Keep Motion Valid.” It’s a mindset that reminds him—and anyone else who resonates with his story—to keep pushing forward in whatever they do. From Cleveland to Arizona, and from recording with nothing more than a speaker and a phone, he has stayed true to himself every step of the way. His journey illustrates how passion and resilience can transform difficult circumstances into a powerful source of inspiration. As he continues to grow, he invites listeners to join him in keeping their own motion valid and embracing whatever the future holds.
