Dive Into the 80s with Ben Eastman’s ‘Night Music Vol II’: A Modern Masterpiece

In the world of music, where genres blend and creativity knows no bounds, Ben Eastman stands out as a prolific composer, whose latest offering, “Night Music Vol II,” promises to transport listeners straight into the heart of the 80s, with a twist that’s distinctly his own. Eastman, hailing from the scenic outskirts of Portland, Oregon, has charted a course through the music industry that is as varied as it is fascinating.

A Musical Odyssey

Ben’s journey into the world of music began in the disciplined ranks of his high school’s jazz band, where he honed his skills on the trumpet. However, the confines of structured band life soon gave way to a yearning for something more, something that resonated with his evolving musical sensibilities. This restlessness led him to explore the guitar and bass, instruments that would become his new vessels of creative expression.

Together with his friend Dylan, Ben ventured into the realm of Reggae, forming the band “Waiting in Vain.” Their album “Bonfire” and its lead single “Karma” managed to capture local attention, securing minor airplay on local radio station 94.7 FM and marking their presence in Portland’s vibrant music scene. Despite their early successes, the band’s journey was not to last, and Ben found himself on a solo path, one that would lead him to a reputation as a versatile and prolific musician.

The Solo Journey: A Flourish of Creativity

Since 2010, Ben Eastman’s musical output has been nothing short of extraordinary. With over ten full-length albums to his name, his work has found its way into short films, feature-length movies, radio shows, and podcasts, showcasing his versatility and depth as a composer. The pandemic years of 2020 to 2022 proved to be a period of intense creativity for Ben, culminating in three thematic albums designed as scores for films that exist only in the imagination.

The releases of “Wanton Endangerment” and “Night Music” marked a significant point in his career, with “Night Rider” from the latter album becoming one of his most streamed tracks. The following year, 2023, saw the release of “Badlands” and “Nostalgia,” both of which received critical acclaim and solidified Ben’s position as a notable figure in the instrumental and movie music genres.

Night Music Vol II: A Nostalgic Journey with a Modern Twist

With “Night Music Vol II,” Ben Eastman invites listeners on a nostalgic journey back to the 80s, reimagined through his unique lens. This brand-new album, rich in instrumental mastery and evocative of alternative rock and movie music, is like a soundtrack for movies crafted in the mind’s eye. Each track is a portal to a different scene, a different emotion, capturing the essence of a decade known for its bold sounds and even bolder visions, all while maintaining a fresh and contemporary feel.

Eastman’s ability to evoke the cinematic through his music is a testament to his skill as a composer and his deep understanding of the emotional language of sound. “Night Music Vol II” is not just an album; it’s an experience, a collection of moments suspended in time, waiting to be discovered and felt.

We had the pleasure of interviewing the Music Artist; here are excerpts from the Interview:

Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us about what it is that you do.

Hello! My name is Ben – I am a musician and compose original scores for movies. I’ve been making music for over the last 15+ years. I find so much passion in creating and having fun with it. I’m really into making music that fits to the movies in my mind and I create music for people to experience that too.

Please tell us about your Music.

Narrowing down the genre is hard, but my music is a mix of 80s music, Synth Rock, and Alternative Rock. Movie Music is also another term I think fits well.

Please tell us about your journey.

I’ve been playing guitar, bass, and synths for quite some time now. Started playing trumpet in a Jazz/Marching band as a kid and quickly grew out of playing the trumpet, so I switched gears to guitar. And since then, I’ve been making albums, and as of the last 10 years or so, I’ve been working on original music scores for horror movies. It’s a blast to create scary music, and it’s something I love doing. Especially when it’s late at night and dark in my studio, and I end up scaring myself.
