Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Paula Cummings, Creator and Founder of Inspire Baby Wear.
Hi, Great to have you with us today! Please tell us about what it is that you do.
I am based in Perth, WA, Australia, and I am a mother to three beautiful girls and step-mum to an adorable little boy. I feel so lucky to work from home and run my small business, Inspire Baby Wear, which makes beautiful hampers, gift boxes, and bamboo suits/rompers for babies.
Please tell us more about your journey.
I started Inspire Baby Wear in September 2019. I have always loved positive quotes and affirmations. While feeding my 5-month-old baby one day, I thought how amazing it would be to design some baby suits that had positive quotes on them. I decided to use bamboo material for my suits because my baby was suffering from mild eczema, and there seemed to be so many benefits to wearing bamboo. After getting a few samples, I found a company that made high-quality bamboo baby suits with my own label and unique design. So far, I have two designs available and hope to have two more designs coming out later this year.
Please tell us more about your company, Inspire Baby Wear.
A family member who runs her own business suggested that I also make some hampers available using some of the baby products I offer. So, near the end of 2020, I started to make various hampers and gift boxes in different sizes for newborns and babies. I absolutely love making different hampers and gift boxes, and I love being able to work from home so I can spend more time with my children. Inspire Baby Wear has really started to become more popular this year as more people have become aware of our products, and we have received a lot of positive feedback, which has been so rewarding.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Starting any type of business has so many challenges and so many ups and downs. You have to get out of your comfort zone, put yourself out there and develop new skills along the way. When you decide to start a new business, you really are jumping into the deep end, so I believe it is just so important that you are going into business doing something that you love! I believe that the main reason that I didn’t succeed before was that I just wasn’t passionate enough about what I was doing. This time, even though there have definitely been many challenges along the way, I have continued to push forward because I really believe in the products I am selling, and I am genuinely passionate about babies.
