Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Darrious Davis, the Founder and Creative Director of the À-Viè Clothing Brand. À-Viè is a European clothing brand looking to merge the US and European cultures together as one in a diverse setting. The goal is to join different cultures together as one.
Please tell us more about your journey.
My journey started in foster care with not having money to purchase brand clothing. I had to borrow friends’ clothes to get the feeling of being fresh. I learned how important clothes are and the energy it brings from wearing clothes that speak for you. Once I was able to get clothes of my own, I was addicted. I created my own style. I always received compliments on my creations.
A childhood friend, who was living in Lille, France, invited me to visit. While there, I discovered my passion and gift and really started to explore the idea of my own brand. I want to use clothes to help awaken every young, underprivileged child to the impact clothing can bring and empower them to become all they can despite circumstances beyond their control.
Please tell us about your company, À-Viè Clothing Brand.
The company produces multiple products. One example is the tie & dye t-shirts and hoodies, which have the definition of diversity on them. The concept is diverse, not just in words but in color and people. It is to help bring all ethnicities and races together as one. It also had added impact as it glows in the dark.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
The strategy that most helped me be successful was perseverance. I lived in shelters with my mother. She had an addiction to drugs, and although she wanted to, she just could not properly take care of me. I was in foster care at age 9, I have been homeless, my life has been full of struggle, but I never gave up. It is important for kids today to know they can do whatever they set their minds to. Just don’t give up.
