Frame drops, strange sounds and other bugs in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

For all its advantages, the recently released game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has a number of disadvantages, the main of which are bugs. No one expected perfect optimization from this game, and so it turned out. There are 4 pronounced problems in it. The first of them is FPS sags. In the center of the Zone, during firefights, is observed from 30 to 60 frames. But there are also such locations, for example, the first base of “Warta”, in which this indicator decreases to three or four, which is already very problematic.

What plot events and what awaits players in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl can be read in the article from AffCommunity.

Graphical bugs and lags: how they spoil the gameplay

The next problem is character models. Sometimes in this game there are very funny moments – for example, a bot is underground after its death or rises into the sky. One NPC can simply get stuck in another and stay in that position for some time. Killed enemies can assume very intricate poses after death. To pass a number of missions it may be necessary to perform difficult maneuvers: moving on a narrow board, jumping or climbing somewhere. In these situations, the frames can sag, spoiling the overall impression of the gameplay.

Developers of the new version of Stalker are trying to gradually eliminate the existing shortcomings. For example, one of the most pronounced bugs was associated with the treatment of the wounded. To help an ally, the protagonist must give him a shot with a first aid kit. Previously, he stabbed in all directions without hitting the bot, but now everything is done correctly.

Also a big problem for players are constantly flickering or changing its hue textures. This significantly spoils the picture, especially on surfaces with complex terrain.

Problems with sounds in the game: from unrealistic effects to strange dialogs

The fourth group of bugs in this game are problems with sounds. During battles, sounds often become unrealistic or suddenly disappear completely. There are also other strange moments, reminiscent of Cyberpunk 2077 in its raw form – for example, when an already killed enemy continues to shout belligerently. Or there may be situations where someone claims a disappeared enemy during combat, who is actually still fighting.
