Turlov comes from Kazakhstani and Russian origins. In 2009, he graduated from Moscow Aviation Technology University (MATI) with a specialization as an economist manager. But his work in business and finance started sooner. After graduating from high school in 2003, he began working at World Capital Investments as a trader in the Russian branch. In 2005, he began working at Yutreyd.ru, part of the Uniastrum Bank, to work directly in American stock market operations. But Turlov also built his own infrastructure to access and carry out operations on the American market. In 2008, the division closed due to the massive financial crisis. However, this gave Turlov the impulse to start his own company, which would eventually grow into Freedom Holding.

Freedom Finance

Freedom Holdings Corp. owns the Kazakh bank Freedom Finance and Kazakhstani broker Freedom Finance JSC with offices in 16 cities in Kazakhstan, 8 cities in Uzbekistan, and one office in Kyrgyzstan.

In 2008, Turlov founded Freedom Finance, a unique company at the time for the region. This company provided direct access to US stock exchanges and did brokerage services. Turlov offered investors access to American securities, and it worked very well.

In 2018, Freedom Finance was seen and acknowledged as the fastest-growing broker. By 2022, it was among the top 10 biggest companies in Moscow working in brokerage services. In 2011, Turlov moved to Kazazhstan and opened the subsidiary Freedom Finance JSC, the biggest trader in the region.

In 2024, Freedom Finance reached 22 countries.

Freedom Holding Corp

In 2015, Turlov became the primary shareholder for Freedom Holding Corp. and turned it into a conglomerate that involved several brands and kinds of services. It took under its wing Freedom Finance Investment Company, Freedom Finance JSC, Freedom24, and Freedom Finance Bank.

The company continued to grow, reaching subsidiaries in Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Germany, and also Cyprus. In 2019, the holding went public on Nasdaq, the first institution from the Commonwealth of Independent States to reach this goal. In 2022, the company withdrew from the Russian market, and the founder would also renounce his Russian citizenship.

Turlov joined the Forbes Global 2000 list in 2021, when his fortune reached $2.1 billion, and by 2022, he was the 7th richest man in Kazakhshtan. In addition to the amazing work done with Freedom Holding, he is also the head of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation and a columnist for Forbes.
