Exploring New Heights: Mountain Climbing and Adventure

While Actuate’s passion for music is undeniable, his love for adventure is equally significant. Mountain climbing has been one of his most profound pursuits, offering him both physical challenges and spiritual fulfillment. His adventurous spirit aligns seamlessly with his creative drive, pushing him to scale new heights both in the mountains and in his music.

The parallels between mountain climbing and music production are clear in Tom’s approach to both. Much like climbing a peak, creating a new album requires determination, focus, and a willingness to push boundaries. Tom’s fearless nature leads him to explore the unknown, whether it’s reaching the summit of a mountain or experimenting with new musical techniques. His travels and adventures provide him with the energy and inspiration to continue creating, always seeking new challenges and fresh ideas.

Tom’s love for nature, the thrill of discovery, and the desire to connect with the world around him have shaped his artistic process. The raw beauty of nature serves as his muse, feeding his creativity and allowing him to produce music that captures the essence of exploration. Whether he’s standing atop a mountain or sitting in his studio crafting the next track, Tom is always striving for the next adventure, both physically and artistically.

Infinite Worlds: An Album That Transcends Boundaries

Actuate’s latest musical project, Infinite Worlds, is a testament to his boundless creativity and adventurous spirit. This 11-track album is an exploration of sound that moves seamlessly between ambient soundscapes, progressive house rhythms, orchestral elements, and experimental tones. The album is not just a collection of tracks; it’s a cohesive journey through sound, where each piece represents a distinct chapter in an intricate narrative.

Infinite Worlds pushes the boundaries of electronic music, blending various sub-genres to create something entirely unique. The ambient layers within the album provide a tranquil atmosphere, allowing listeners to pause and reflect before being drawn into the more intense progressive house sections. The rhythmic beats build up energy, creating a powerful sense of movement, while experimental tones offer a touch of unpredictability, much like Tom’s adventurous nature.

Each track on the album is a sonic representation of Actuate’s inner and outer explorations. The orchestral pieces add depth and emotion, evoking imagery of futuristic landscapes and distant worlds, while the experimental tones challenge the listener to engage with the music on a deeper level. Through Infinite Worlds, Actuate invites listeners to lose themselves in the complexities of sound, offering them an experience that goes beyond traditional listening.

The album is an ode to the endless potential of music, a medium that, like mountain climbing, requires resilience, courage, and an open mind. It serves as a reminder that the creative process, much like the journey to the top of a mountain, is one of discovery, where the possibilities are infinite.

We had the privilege of interviewing Tom a.k.a. Actuate. Here are excerpts from the interview.

Hi Tom, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share your journey with our readers.

Hi, I started producing music in 2016, and it took a few years to truly find my footing in the world of electronic music. Like any creative journey, it’s been full of experimentation, growth, and constant learning. I’ve never felt that I’ve “arrived”—there’s always something new to discover, another layer to uncover, and I’m always leveling up with each project I take on. In terms of inspiration, artists like Jon Hopkins, Flume, Lorn, and Alix Perez really pushed me to dive into music production. Their ability to craft immersive, emotional soundscapes made me want to explore what I could create in that space. Their unique approaches to electronic music encouraged me to break free from traditional boundaries and embrace experimentation in my own work. While the journey hasn’t always been smooth, each step forward has shaped me into the producer I am today. It’s been an adventure, and I’m excited for what’s still to come as I continue evolving and refining my sound.

Any message for our readers?

To the readers thinking of starting music production, I could not think of a hobby that has given my life so much purpose, joy, and connection. There is nothing quite like the feeling of writing your first chord progression or nailing a mixdown or master. Also, the feeling of collaborating with other producers and friends on projects is a bucket list experience. Music production is also highly therapeutic and healing as it can used as a medium to channel your feelings of pain, trauma, love, sorrow, and loss into something beautiful. To anyone reading who has thought about quitting and giving up on music production, don’t! I thought about quitting dozens of times out of frustration, lack of support, and stagnation. Just keep pushing through those difficult moments, and when you feel like quitting, just take a break and go for a nature walk. Sometimes, taking weeks or even months of time off producing can help you reevaluate your creative energies and give you a new, fresh perspective on how to approach production from a new angle.

Thank you so much, Tom, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
