Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
My name is Jean-Philippe Roche, and I make music under the name Vuehateno (pronounced “view-ha-teh-no”). Music has always been a passion of mine and has constantly surrounded and inspired me throughout life. I grew up around various genres of music, but was often drawn to techno, trance, and varying rock genres.
Please tell us about your Latest Single.
The latest single, “4th Season”, just dropped. I felt compelled to put out something a little holiday, a little introspective, a little relaxed. The song was written out of moments of introspection and looking back at the last four years not only as an artist, but as an individual walking through life and trying to make sense of things. The song is a reflection of how quickly time passes, how a lot happens, and if you miss it, all that is left is a longing memory of those times. I lost my grandmother a couple of years ago, and that completely rocked my core. Part of 4th Season is a nod to her impact on my life.
Please tell us about your journey.
I’m not exactly sure where my journey starts, but I can say I know where it “clicked” for me. Prior to Vuehateno — now several years ago — I was a part of the post-hardcore band Unarmed For Victory out of Miami, FL, as the lyricist, vocalist, and occasional synth player. We were fortunate to be able to tour throughout several states during our time together. We haven’t broken up, funny enough… we’re just bidding our time.
I had moved to Seattle, Washington, several years ago and needed a musical outlet. After messing around with different names and sounds off and on, my good friend Gabe M, aka Holy Colors, encouraged me to pursue focusing on a solo outing. 2020 happened, and from the chaos — and the Uproar — Vuehateno was born.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I’m still working on that when it comes to my solo journey. As a band, success was definitely, by and large, because of the efforts, dedication, and talents of each member.
