Introducing Awesome Esther: A Puppet with a Purpose

One of the most heartwarming aspects of Sonya’s debut single is the inclusion of her puppet, Awesome Esther. In a creative twist, Sonya decided to introduce Awesome Esther to help spread her song’s positive message to younger audiences. The puppet, which she playfully uses in her homemade music video, sings “I Am” alongside Sonya’s cousin. This collaboration adds a unique element to the song, making it both fun and impactful for kids and adults alike.

For Sonya, Awesome Esther is more than just a fun character; she is a means of bringing joy and encouragement to children. By using the puppet to perform “I Am,” Sonya is helping younger generations embrace the song’s message of self-empowerment in an engaging and accessible way. Her hope is that through this creative outreach, kids will begin to understand the importance of self-love and inner strength at an early age.

A Journey of Faith and Personal Growth

Sonya’s personal journey is deeply intertwined with the creation of her debut single. At 51 years old, Sonya is a single mother of four grown children and a proud grandmother of two. Her life experiences have shaped her desire to create music that uplifts and empowers others. A key moment in Sonya’s life was when she found faith in Jesus Christ. This spiritual awakening gave her the clarity and purpose to create music that spreads love, peace, and positivity. When she wrote “I Am,” Sonya was working in an environment where she witnessed unfair treatment toward a co-worker. This experience sparked the inspiration for the song, which became a declaration of personal worth and resilience in the face of adversity.

A Message for a Divided World

As a debut single, “I Am” is more than just an introduction to Sonya Gore as an artist; it’s a mission to spread peace and love in a world that often feels divided. Sonya believes that her song’s message of positivity is especially needed during times of social and political tension, such as those leading up to the upcoming election. With society becoming increasingly polarized, Sonya hopes that “I Am” will remind listeners to rise above the division and focus on love, unity, and self-worth.

The song serves as a beacon of light in challenging times, offering listeners of all ages a message that they are strong, worthy, and capable of overcoming life’s obstacles. Whether through the rhythmic energy of Afrobeat or the playful joy of Awesome Esther, Sonya’s debut single delivers a universal message of hope and empowerment.

We had the privilege of interviewing the Music Artist; here are excerpts from the interview:

Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

I am a Music Artist, I’m a 51-year-old single lady with four grown kids and two grandkids!

Please tell us about your debut single, ‘I Am’.

It’s a single Afrobeat music! I have this little home video that I made with my little cousin. I have a puppet that I’m starting to play with, and I decided to have her sing the song to try and reach kids as well! The puppet’s name is Awesome Esther! I really want peace and love for everyone!

Please tell us about your journey.

I started my Social Media journey about three years ago. I just woke up one morning and decided that I was tired of being angry. I was tired, you know, of my life. I am not saying that it was so terrible, but I just felt like, you know, I had too much stress. It was just too much. I dealt with a lot of depression in my life. My younger days were not that great. I have some really bad, you know, memories. I have some trauma from when I was younger, so I decided to start dancing every day on TikTok, and then that turned into a lot of positive affirmation sharing. I started doing a lot of things that I didn’t normally do. You know, I stood outside the box with yoga, painting, crafting, and all kinds of different stuff. I just opened myself up to a new world that I didn’t know, you know, that I even was interested in. I found out that I really love improv and acting silly, lol. I decided one day that I was going to write a song; I just added the blue. I just decided I wanted to do that, and that’s what I did the song at the time I was working and in a situation where someone I was working with was not being treated all that great, so I think the song kind of was, crying for her as well.

I want to share my whole story; I lost custody of my first two sons to my husband at the time! I have a son who is 28 years old, and I haven’t seen him since he was ten months old! I’ve struggled with this for years, feeling worthless! I had two more beautiful sons I raised on my own, and my oldest and I reconnected about nine years ago. Our relationship is great now, but Jason, we only talk on the phone and through texting. He’s not ready to meet me yet! Actually, typing this right now, I can feel a weight dropping off my shoulders! I’ve had some tough times. I was molested when I was young, like many women, and I lost my passion for my love of theatre and the arts along the way, but I found myself in this healing journey process.

I found Jesus Christ during my journey!

Thank you so much, Sonya, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
