We had the pleasure of interviewing the Twitch Gamer; here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
My name is HR Ferguson, aka Bodybagg_Ferg. I’m 35 years old and currently reside in the DMV-Arlington, VA. I work in the finance industry and stream part-time as a hobby and one-day stream full-time.
Please tell us about your Twitch Channel.
I’m a gaming content creator. The gaming content I focus on is Call of Duty, Overwatch 2, Pokémon, Among Us, and NCAA Football when the game is released. The type of style I have is a mix of millennial outlook with sports, anime, and comedy wrapped in one. I’m currently a Twitch Affiliate right now.
Please tell us about your journey.
The journey took place on April 30, 2021, when I moved from my parents’ house in Gainesville, VA, to Arlington, VA. Life was getting in the way with streaming with a career that was taking my time from sunrise to sundown and a girlfriend who wasn’t feeling the idea of me playing games like that. Several cousins and friends were pushing me to stream because I have the personality and entertainment value that will make a stream successful. Everyone said all you need to do is put a camera in front of you and you are more than golden. A couple of events had to happen: I wound up getting a new position that paid significantly more, went through a breakup with a girlfriend at the time, and moved to a new spot in Arlington that took over a year to move in. One of my clients who plays in the NBA happens to live in the same building I was looking at over a year, and I managed to take a leap of faith and wind up paying dividends. Since I moved in, my streaming studio setup went through a massive upgrade, which is currently worth over $4,000. I took another leap and just started around January with the help of my cousins and friends’ support.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
The strategies that made me successful are, first, listening to the advice that is given to you by someone who’s already doing it and has heavy knowledge in the streaming world. The knowledge I got helped me network with many different Twitch streamers and supporters. The second piece of advice that is cliche is YouTube University. There’s so much information out there now. If you have a question about anything, you can find it on YouTube. The third piece of advice is to have a mascot. My mascot’s name is Bodybagg_Mo. He is a dog with a sailor’s mouth. He’s my official commentator, analyst, mascot, and trash talker of my Twitch channel.
