From the very first pages, the story pulls readers into the fast-paced routine of a rescue team member. Written in the form of a logbook, it depicts authentic (yet fictionalized) scenarios that capture both the adrenaline and the emotional weight of tending to others in times of crisis. Whether it’s a routine training exercise or a high-pressure emergency at a large public event, the book spares no detail in showing the triumphs, the doubts, and the surprising camaraderie that blossoms under challenging circumstances.

Though entirely fictional, the narrative feels vivid and honest. The anonymous narrator’s commitment to every intervention—no matter how small—reveals a world where every second counts. Those who have ever wondered about the lesser-seen side of volunteer rescue work will appreciate how each anecdote emphasizes the ongoing learning curve and the personal evolution that occurs on the job.

Overcoming Disability to Follow a Calling

One of the most inspiring aspects of this book is its exploration of perseverance in the face of disability. The narrator’s determination and the author’s own experiences as a volunteer in France highlight the notion that a physical or perceived challenge does not have to stand in the way of pursuing a passion. Through training sessions, behind-the-scenes stories, and raw self-reflection, the narrator learns the ropes of first aid, often while grappling with personal doubts.

Readers witness what it truly means to balance ability, resilience, and a powerful sense of purpose. By weaving moments of lighthearted humor into these depictions, the author ensures the lessons are not only impactful but also relatable, reminding everyone that personal struggles can be gateways to unexpected growth.

Why This Book Speaks to Future Rescuers and Beyond

While Logbook of a First Aid Responder targets young adults, it also has plenty to offer medical and paramedical students, volunteers, and even hobbyists fascinated by emergency response. Through an intimate glimpse of real-life drills and stressful incidents, future responders can glean valuable insights into teamwork, adaptability, and the emotional side of caring for others.

The book underscores values such as solidarity, humility, and perseverance, qualities that transcend professional boundaries. Even those with no ambitions in the medical field will find themselves resonating with the story’s reflections on personal growth and the universal desire to contribute meaningfully to one’s community.

Hi, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about your book with our readers.

Hi, I am Viennes; I am an IT student and a first-aid volunteer in France. My book is a logbook; I wanted to make a realistic testimony (but also humoristic) of first aid workers’ daily lives.

Please tell us about your journey.

I have just started my journey. I want to chat with people who have read my book for the moment. Maybe that will shape my journey.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

My strategies are basically to stay in good shape, take care of myself, and be as organized as possible. I know it may not sound exciting, but it is true : ) I also try to travel a lot, to Japan, for example, to improve my creativity.
