Let’s be real—life’s a messy rollercoaster, and sometimes you just need music that gets it. Enter Scott Junior, a Detroit artist who’s turning emo hip-hop into therapy sessions for the rest of us. With 3,000 monthly Spotify listeners and a sound that’s equal parts gritty and gut-punching, Scott’s latest EP, Before You Care, isn’t just a collection of tracks—it’s a survival guide for anyone who’s ever felt lost.
From Basement Tapes to Beats That Stick
Scott’s story starts like so many great ones do: in a basement. His debut EP, Nameless, wasn’t polished, but it didn’t need to be. Fans latched onto “Cyprus Hill,” a track that mashed genres like a DJ with a grudge, proving Scott didn’t care about fitting in. Then came “Gravity,” where he dropped lines like, “Found my way right back at first step…”—a confession that growth isn’t always pretty.
But here’s the thing: Scott’s music isn’t about flexing. It’s about feeling. While other artists chase TikTok fame, he’s busy writing lyrics that sound like texts you’d send at 2 a.m. after one too many existential crises.
Before You Care: EP

Clocking in at just under 12 minutes, Scott’s new project packs four tracks that’ll leave you staring at the ceiling. Let’s break it down:
- “Tribe” (the fan favorite): Imagine a beat that throbs like a stress headache, paired with lyrics about finding your weird little corner of the world. It’s the anthem for anyone who’s ever felt like a misfit.
- “Missed Call”: Ever recorded a voicemail you knew they’d never hear? This track is that voicemail. The hook—“Where do you go when you’re feeling alone…”—is the kind of raw honesty that’ll make you want to hug your phone.
- “Awake”: Scott flips a sample you’ll swear you’ve heard before (but can’t quite place) to ask: “What if I’m the problem?” It’s that 3 a.m. thought we’ve all had, set to a beat.
- “Detox”: The opener’s all moody synths and lyrics about emotional spring cleaning. Think of it as a musical “delete ex’s number” moment.
Why Scott’s Music Feels Like Your Best Friend’s Rambles
Here’s the secret sauce: Scott doesn’t do filters. His tracks are confessional booth meets mosh pit—think less “rap superstar” and more “guy who’d lend you his hoodie after a breakup.” Tracks like “Missed Call” don’t just talk about loneliness—they make you taste it.
As Scott puts it, his music is about “sharing the parts of me that are often hidden.” Translation: He’s the friend who’ll admit he’s still figuring life out, right when you need to hear it.
What’s Next for Detroit’s Most Relatable Mess?
At 11 minutes and 50 seconds, Before You Care leaves you hanging—but in the best way. Scott’s not chasing viral fame; he’s building something real. With every track, he’s proving that hip-hop doesn’t need flashy chains when it’s got this much heart.
So if you’re tired of music that’s all flex and no feeling, hit play. Scott Junior’s here to remind you that sometimes, the best art comes from the mess we’re scared to show.

We had the privilege of interviewing the Music Artist. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
I’m Scott Junior—an artist from Detroit blending alternative rap and emo hip-hop. My music is an honest reflection of life’s struggles, diving into raw emotions with no filter. It’s about sharing the parts of me that are often hidden and using music to help others feel less alone.
Please tell us about your latest project, “Before You Care”.

My latest project, “Before You Care”, features tracks like “Tribe”, which has resonated as my most streamed song, and “Missed Call”, a heartfelt track recorded as a voicemail. The hook, “Where do you go when you’re feeling alone and nobody is listening…” captures that overwhelming loneliness. Another standout, “Awake”, flips a classic and touches on shifting perspectives. This project reflects the journey I’m on, full of introspection, pain, and growth.
Please tell us about your journey.
My journey began with loss—my best friend, my brother, took his life. We had talked about making music together, but I lacked the courage until he was gone. I feared my age, but the support for “Before You Care” reminds me that it’s never too late to find your voice. I’ve struggled with depression and identity issues, but through it all, I want my music to show others that they’re not alone, especially when they feel lost in their own heads.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Staying authentic and consistent has been key. I’ve built a real connection with my listeners by showing up every day and staying true to myself. It’s not about trends—it’s about growth, both in my music and my journey.
Any message for our readers?
Don’t let the weight of the world make you feel small. The darkest days don’t last forever, and every step forward—no matter how small—matters. If you’re battling with your own demons, know that there’s a way out. You’re not alone in it. My music is my therapy, my way of saying to others, “I see you.” Life will always have its ups and downs, but if you keep pushing through the hard days, you’ll eventually find the light again. And when you do, remember to embrace it—because it’s yours to own.
Thank you so much, Scott, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
