A Doorway to Lasting Change
Readers who crave meaningful progress often wonder why they keep falling behind on their own goals. They make plans, set deadlines, and feel a surge of excitement…yet something stalls them. This frustration can lead to discouragement. “Unleash the Power of Connection” by Dennis A. McCurdy offers a practical solution—mastermind groups and accountability partners who push, encourage, and support each other. The book’s message is straightforward. It shines a light on the power of close-knit groups to help readers break free from procrastination, stay motivated, and finally reach that elusive full potential.
A recurring theme in the book is the simple fact that people work better in teams. Readers see how a structured approach—complete with regular check-ins—gets them off the couch and moving forward. The author emphasizes accountability and the magic that happens when like-minded individuals share struggles, trade tips, and celebrate victories. Short on fluff, he relies on real stories and lessons from his own background, which spans years of facilitating mastermind sessions. He doesn’t sugarcoat the effort required, though he does show that the payoff is immense.
Mastermind Groups & Accountability Partners
McCurdy introduces the concept of the mastermind group as a GANG—Goal Achieving Nudging Group. The acronym makes it memorable. He presents a system where people join forces to give each other the nudge they need. They set clear goals, hold each other responsible, and keep track of progress. When one member struggles, the group steps in with fresh ideas and constructive feedback. These simple interactions can spark breakthroughs, help identify hidden stumbling blocks, and open new paths to success.
Accountability partners add a layer of personal support. These pairings encourage honest conversation: “Did you finish the steps you promised? If not, what’s the plan now?” A gentle push is enough to ward off those creeping feelings of doubt. As McCurdy explains, success thrives on connection. Even a single partner can change someone’s entire perspective, replacing self-sabotage with renewed energy. The author’s KISSES concept—Keep It Simple, Stupid, and Easy Supported—shows how streamlined plans work best for people who crave progress without overwhelm.
Beyond Good Intentions—Escaping the “Valley of Dead Dreams”

Everyone has experienced abandoned goals. That’s why McCurdy describes this territory as the “Valley of Dead Dreams.” Good intentions end up trapped there. People talk about what they’d love to do, and the vision stays locked in their heads. His book states that harnessing the power of a team is the way out. He insists that shared experiences speed growth. Once readers see that others face similar hurdles, they don’t feel isolated or discouraged. Shared perspectives help them navigate pitfalls and find shortcuts.
He believes in the power of direct action—no waiting around. Short sentences like “Stop talking. Start doing. Get the life you want!” appear throughout the text. They push readers to commit to the process. McCurdy also shows that success loves company, so it’s valuable to keep good people close. The synergy from collaboration cancels out the loneliness that sometimes kills motivation. Armed with that support, readers can stop procrastinating and tackle bigger dreams. As he puts it, there’s no better time to break away from old excuses and get results that matter.
About the Author—Dennis McCurdy’s Journey
Dennis A. McCurdy knows a thing or two about discipline. He served with the USAF Security Police in Vietnam from July 1970 to July 1971, stationed at Phu Cat Airbase in the Republic of South Vietnam. That experience shaped his understanding of responsibility, leadership, and personal growth. After returning home, he started building businesses at age 23. He launched McCurdy Group, which went on to earn the 5 Star Designation in 2003. He’s owned millions of dollars in real estate, established ten businesses, and mastered the art of persevering through obstacles.
As president of the Adam Beck Institute, he regularly speaks about personal development. His five-week workshop, Find A Way, guides individuals looking for fresh motivation. Participants walk away with practical steps to revitalize their lives and sharpen their focus. Attendees describe him as a down-to-earth mentor—someone who’d rather share “meat and potatoes” than empty theory. McCurdy’s earlier books, “Find A Way, A Guide to Getting The Most From Life” and “52 Ways To Find A Way,” paved the road for his current work. He’s now writing “Suck it Up Cupcake, How to Stop Screwing Yourself and Get the Life You Want.” Each title carries his signature style of directness, warmth, and commitment to action.
In “Unleash the Power of Connection,” McCurdy draws on his experiences and merges them with proven insights into human behavior. He addresses procrastination head-on by emphasizing the role of other people in fueling personal success. He insists that readers don’t have to act alone. When they bring a mastermind group or accountability partner into the mix, results come faster. Shared momentum replaces isolation.
Interested readers can find the book on Amazon and dive into a world where big dreams find powerful allies. They discover that a single shift—inviting others into the process—has a ripple effect on motivation and achievement. McCurdy’s story is living proof. He grew up in rural New England without a clear roadmap for success. Yet he charted his path by connecting with mentors, staying determined, and using collaboration to keep his sights set high.
“Unleash the Power of Connection”— It’s a chance for people to stop making excuses and start building the future they’ve always imagined. The book provides tools to escape the “Valley of Dead Dreams,” form a solid GANG and apply the KISSES principle. Accountability becomes second nature. And as McCurdy’s life shows, the result is freedom.
We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview.
Hi, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about your book with our readers.
Hi, Unleash the Power of Connection is the result of decades in mastermind groups, working with goal buddies, and realizing that we all do better when we’re not going it alone. We don’t need more willpower—we need the right people around us. This book is about using connection to stay accountable, focused, and moving forward.

Please tell us about your journey.
Let’s just say I didn’t exactly graduate high school with honors. After the military, I found myself wondering, “What now?” I bumped into two old friends starting businesses, and it hit me—if they can do it, maybe I can, too. So I dropped out of college, got my real estate license, failed a few times, and just kept going. At 24, I was selling hot dogs from a canteen truck. At 36, I hit my first million (that’s $2.3 million today). I wasn’t the smartest guy, but I could work harder and longer—and I did. I also realized success leaves footprints. If someone else did it, so could I, and so can you!
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Show up and do the work. Sure, I slack off sometimes (who doesn’t?), but I never stay down for long. I believed in outworking the next guy. And I always had a group or a buddy to keep me honest and on track. As entrepreneurs, we all need someone in our corner. No shame in that—it’s human.
Any message for our readers?
You’re more capable than you think. We all have something that comes easier to us—your job is to find it and use it. Doesn’t matter where you came from or where you are now—just start. You’ll mess up. Good. That’s feedback. Keep going, keep learning, and if you need someone to walk with you, find them. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about not giving up.
Thank you so much for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
