We had the pleasure of interviewing Bael Fire. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

Hi, Great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about yourself.

I’m from China, and currently a student in Edinburgh. I started songwriting quite late, at the age of 18, when I moved to UK. But my performing career started when I was young. I love to showcase drama and storytelling in my music, as well as experimenting with different sounds/vocal styles. My music is influenced by western artists such as Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Florence + The Machine, and Kate Bush, as well as Chinese artists such as Faye Wang, etc. I am also active in the scene of musical theatre.

Please tell us about your songs.

I wrote the three singles and most songs in the upcoming album, ‘Desire Moved Eliot‘, when I was in school, before 2020. But I only got the chance to produce and record them last year. They reflex a younger Bael Fire’s aesthetic, but it has been a really fun journey for me. The album itself is inspired by T.S. Eliot’s Burnt Norton. It’s about a bizarre journey in a dream of a man with a broken heart. In a dream, we can travel through worlds and doors and have different personas. And I want this album to showcase those different scenes and different characters.

Cherry‘ is one scene in this dream. It’s a surreal nightmare about revenge. ‘Clear (What We Doing)’ is another place in the dream, a story about hiking in an unknown place. ‘Coming Soon‘ is the dream you have when you are on the edge of waking up, where things are getting clearer, but you still don’t know where you are, what you are.

Thank you so much, Bael Fire, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
