Discovering Kindness Through Friendship: Meet Lola and Marco

Imagine a world where kindness shines brighter than winning—and friendships bloom with every act of generosity. That’s exactly the world author Marcell Benedetti invites young readers into with her captivating children’s book, Lola and Marco: Recipe for Kindness and Friendship. Filled with heartfelt moments and charming illustrations, this delightful story is perfect for kids aged 4 to 10. It captures a message so universal—kindness makes everything better—that families will return to its pages again and again.

The Magic of Small Gestures

From the very start, Lola knows something special: kindness can change the world. Whether she’s comforting a friend who’s sad or baking delicious chocolate chip cookies with her grandmother, Lola believes deeply in the power of small gestures. Each simple act creates a ripple of positivity, warming hearts wherever she goes.

What makes this book particularly engaging is the inclusion of Lola’s special chocolate chip cookie recipe. Families reading together can extend the joy beyond the story, creating memories while sharing tasty treats. Baking cookies becomes more than just a fun afternoon—it turns into a meaningful moment that reinforces the book’s theme of generosity and love.

Marco’s Journey: Seeing the World Differently

Unlike Lola, Marco starts out viewing life as a competition where being the strongest matters most. For him, kindness isn’t part of the picture—until Lola enters his life. With patience and warmth, Lola offers Marco something he’s never experienced before: genuine friendship. Her kindness opens his eyes, showing Marco a new way to connect with others.

Young readers get to follow Marco’s emotional transformation, a journey filled with relatable lessons about empathy, patience, and true friendship. Through Marco, kids learn that choosing kindness isn’t always easy, but it’s always rewarding. This shift in perspective not only touches Marco but also encourages readers to reflect on their own interactions and choices.

A Wonderful Gift for Young Readers

Beyond its captivating narrative, Lola and Marco: Recipe for Kindness and Friendship is beautifully illustrated, making each page a visual delight. The colorful, expressive images bring Lola and Marco’s journey vividly to life, enhancing the story’s emotional depth and appeal.

This book isn’t just a tale to entertain—it’s a tool to inspire positive behavior. Whether given as a birthday gift, holiday surprise, or a special “just because” present, it’s an ideal pick for parents, grandparents, teachers, or anyone hoping to nurture kindness in young hearts.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

First of all, thank you for having me.  My name is Marcell Benedetti.  I love to write children’s stories that inspire and give positive messages.

Please tell us about your journey.

Well, I really like to be around children. They make me happy. I believe each one has a unique character. Given all the technology today, I see kids getting disconnected from things that really matter, like communication, friendship and acts of kindness. Don’t get me wrong, I think technology is great when used wisely.  Each child should feel like they can make the world a better place with the choices that they make. There is always somebody out there who believes in you.  That’s why I wrote this story, to inspire kids to face difficulties with kindness and to never give up.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

I see the positive things in life.  I think a good attitude, belief in others, and a touch of fun inspired me to write amazing stories to share.

Any message for our readers

I want the children to know that being kind doesn’t mean being quiet, it means being strong enough to care.  You will be surprised at what you can do. Keep shining and always bring the best of yourself.

Thank you so much, Marcell, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
