In 2014, the couple tied the knot with a ceremony officiated by Matthew Gray Gubler, famous for his role as Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds. Interestingly, he was also the one to introduce the two.

Steve Damstra is best known for songs like You’re Pretty Good Looking, Air Miami, and Gene Pool Style. He has been working with his band Whirlwind Heat since 1996 when it was first founded. The band caught a big break when their performance was seen by Jack White, opening many new doors for the group. Steve was the bassist and also a songwriter, which helped him develop music for other projects. Damstra is also in the band Folding Light.
He has also worked in movies, and his credits include Excision, David Sedaris’s The Learning Curve, and Teenage Cocktail. In addition, he has produced music for different soundtracks.
The band was formed by James Swanson, the vocalist, Steve Damstra, the bassist, and drummer Brad Holland when they were just sixteen. Their first gig was in 1997, and in 1999, guitarist Jason Eberspeaker joined the band. They continued playing throughout Michigan until they were noticed by Jack White, a famous band The White Stripes, who offered to help them record. In 2000, the band recorded songs in his studio and released a single, Glaxefusion. They also got to add a track to a compilation made by Jack White the next year. Eberspeaker left the band shortly after, however, and the trio decided to push on. They recorded their first album in 2002 and kept releasing music.
Whirlwind Heat had their last official performance in 2006 but came together in 2014 for a new gig at Third Man Records in Nashville. The band also reissued their debut album but have gone their separate ways with occasional collaborations. Their first record was Do Rabbits Wonder? And their last record was Self Titled or Twist Du Jour, released on July 4, 2008.

Damstra and Paget Brewster were introduced and married by Matthey Gray Gubler, co-star of the actress on Criminal Minds and frequent collaborator of Damstra.
