Knight started working in theater at the age of 12. He was part of the Children’s Theatre Company. He studied briefly at the University of St. Thomas but dropped out to pursue a career in acting.

He would appear on Sesame Street in 2006, on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, in The Good Wife with a recurring role. In 2017, he was in The Catch, followed by roles in When We Rise, Genius: Einstein and Genius: Picasso, as well as God Friended Me.
In 2020, he appeared in the revival of Will & Grace. In 2020, he was in The Comey Rule. Starting in 2020, he was also cast in The Flight Attendant as Davey Bowden.
