Hope Rising, the captivating third installment in Caroline E. Zani’s beloved Echoes Past & Future series, delivers an emotional journey wrapped in mystery, family legacy, and newfound courage. Readers who have followed Hope’s complicated path from the outset will be delighted—this novel dives deep into what it means to reclaim oneself amid hidden truths and unbreakable ties.
A Past Resurfaced
When Hope Cranston accepted her new identity, shedding the shadowy weight of the Barlow family name seemed doable. But life had other plans. Blood ties and family fortunes rarely loosen their grip, and soon Hope finds herself wrestling with buried pain and tangled loyalties. Caroline Zani cleverly blends nostalgia and tension, whisking readers back to the misty shores of Mount Desert Isle, where past and present collide.
Hope’s decision to leave Maine feels both freeing and complicated. Carrying little more than her cherished horse Pirate, she ventures into the unknown to study therapeutic riding under Piper Corcoran. Piper—known for piecing together shattered souls without prying—symbolizes the quiet strength Hope desperately seeks. This phase marks a turning point, presenting Hope with an unexpected chance to rewrite her narrative.
Mystery and New Beginnings
Life takes another sharp twist when a mysterious veteran emerges, cloaked in both literal scars and emotional wounds. His tales hint at heroics and tragedies almost too staggering to believe. Zani crafts this character with remarkable care, adding layers of complexity and quiet vulnerability that echo Hope’s internal struggles. The intersection of their lives feels like fate—both fragile and profoundly hopeful.
Through this enigmatic stranger, Hope faces revelations that tie directly to her own obscured history. Readers journey alongside her, feeling every tremor of discovery as she grapples with the truth. Trust becomes her biggest challenge and strongest ally, forcing Hope to question everything she knows—and everything she’s avoided knowing.
Echoes and Healing
Echoes drift quietly through the narrative, touching distant shores and quiet pastures. They whisper softly to characters—and readers—who listen carefully enough. Zani’s intuitive storytelling paints a vivid emotional landscape, highlighting the delicate balance between past pains and future possibilities. Healing becomes less about erasing pain and more about reclaiming power from it.
Therapeutic riding, symbolically rich, reinforces the themes of reclaiming and healing. Pirate, Hope’s steadfast horse, represents unwavering loyalty and the quiet strength found in companionship. Together, their bond anchors Hope in turbulent moments, subtly reminding readers of the strength found in connections—both human and animal.
Caroline E. Zani’s Craftsmanship

Author Caroline E. Zani masterfully blends her intuitive mediumship with her natural storytelling gifts, breathing authentic emotional depth into her characters. Her prose feels approachable yet profound—like listening to a close friend who understands exactly what you’re feeling. Fans of her earlier novels, Piper, Once & Again (2016) and Waiting for Grace (2020), will find Hope Rising a satisfying and uplifting conclusion. But newcomers, fear not: Zani skillfully weaves enough context throughout that the novel stands beautifully on its own.
Rising Above the Past
Ultimately, Hope Rising explores whether one can truly break free from the cards they’re dealt and trust in the possibilities presented by the unknown. It’s a powerful reflection on resilience, acceptance, and the courage to rebuild life on one’s terms. Readers will find comfort and inspiration in Hope’s transformation—a reminder that rising is possible, no matter how daunting the past.
Zani leaves readers with a heart full of hope and perhaps a renewed trust in life’s unpredictable beauty. Mark your calendars: Hope Rising launches July 22, 2025, ready to whisper its echoes of courage and redemption into your own story.
We had the privilege of interviewing Caroline E. Zani. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi Caroline, Thank you so much for joining us today! Please share your journey with our readers.
Hi, my journey as an author was unintentional. I met a person at a party who asked if I was writing a book, to which I responded, “No. I have thought about it, but I don’t have time.” I went home that night and sat with my laptop to prove to myself I was not writing a book. To my surprise, there was an entire story, timeline, plot, and characters, names, dates, and places just waiting for me. 76 nights later, I had a 300 page manuscript. Not really knowing much about the publishing industry, I just set the intention that the book would find its way. It got handed from person to person for a bit, and one person handed me to their agent, who found my publisher. I think it was a much easier route than trying to learn the publishing industry! PIPER, ONCE & AGAIN was launched in 2016, WAITING FOR GRACE in 2020 and HOPE RISING will launch July 22, 2025.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Truly, it’s been about trusting the process, timing and detaching from the outcome. It really works.
Any message for our readers?
In terms of writing and publishing, I believe we all have a story, and if we are brave enough to share it, it will find its way to the people who need to read it. When it comes to life and all its varied ups and downs, keep going. You have guidance.
Thank you so much, Caroline, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
