Haries Abdulla’s ‘Love in Algorithm’ Offers a Beautifully Crafted Cross-Cultural Love Story

A Story Where Technology Meets the Heart

Haries Abdulla’s debut novelette Love in Algorithm invites readers into a world where science and emotion intertwine in unexpected ways. Set against an international backdrop, the story begins in a Tokyo laboratory, where a brilliant yet heartbroken engineer named Takayo attempts to answer a deeply human question. Can love be created through code?

Takayo builds two robots, I’rah and I’bab, each designed with an experimental emotional core. The intention is bold, almost poetic. He wants to prove that love can be engineered with precision. When the experiment appears to fail, he quietly ships the robots to clients in Singapore, believing the project has reached its end.

Yet the story truly begins when the robots are activated. What unfolds is not failure, but something far more intriguing. The two machines instantly form a connection that defies expectation, setting off a chain of emotional ripples that reach far beyond their programming.

A Cross-Continental Tale of Connection

As I’rah and I’bab begin to interact, their bond starts influencing the lives of their owners. Natasha, a Singaporean woman, and Gerard, a French expatriate living far from Paris, find themselves drawn into a narrative that feels both intimate and expansive. Their own emotions deepen as they observe and respond to the evolving relationship between the robots.

Haries crafts this dual-layered story with warmth and imagination. The connection between humans mirrors the connection between machines, creating a delicate balance that keeps readers engaged. The setting moves seamlessly across cultures, reflecting the author’s own global experiences.

Haries draws from his professional journey as a pharmaceutical Quality Control expert based in Singapore. Having worked with nine multinational pharmaceutical companies, he has interacted with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. These experiences shape the authenticity of the characters and their interactions, giving the story a grounded yet imaginative feel.

The narrative explores how distance, culture, and circumstance influence relationships. It also highlights how shared experiences can bridge even the widest gaps. Through Natasha and Gerard, readers witness how love evolves when people open themselves to unexpected possibilities.

The Author’s Journey Behind the Pages

The creation of Love in Algorithm carries its own inspiring story. Haries began writing the book in May 2025 while working as a validation consultant for a US company. What started as an idea soon became a deeply personal project.

Interestingly, life seemed to mirror fiction. The story begins in Japan, and soon after, Haries found himself working on a project with a Japanese company. One of the characters in the novelette is French, and before completing the book, Haries secured his dream job and is now working full-time for a French company. These parallels added a unique sense of connection between his real life and his storytelling. He hopes that anyone who reads his book will also be inspired to pursue and accomplish their own dreams.

Balancing work, family, and business responsibilities was not always easy. Haries faced days when writing felt distant and difficult. Still, determination kept him moving forward. He chose early mornings during weekends to focus on his manuscript, slowly shaping the narrative with patience and care.

Support played a vital role in his journey. With encouragement from his beautiful wife, Babitha, and his children, Shazana and Rohail, he found the strength to continue. Their presence brought both motivation and joy, helping him stay committed to his goal.

After ten months of dedication, Haries completed the book on February 26 and published it on Amazon in March 2026. The achievement reflects not just creative effort, but also resilience and passion.

A Thought-Provoking Exploration of Love

Love in Algorithm stands out for its ability to ask meaningful questions while maintaining a light and engaging tone. It explores whether love is something humans can design or something that shapes them in return. The presence of artificial intelligence adds a modern dimension, yet the emotions remain timeless.

Haries presents a story that feels whimsical yet reflective. The interactions between robots and humans invite readers to reconsider their understanding of connection. It encourages them to think about the nature of love in a world where technology continues to evolve.

The book’s charm lies in its simplicity and sincerity. It does not attempt to overwhelm with complexity. Instead, it gently guides readers through moments of curiosity, warmth, and discovery.

Available on Amazon and Goodreads, Love in Algorithm offers a refreshing take on romance and innovation. It appeals to readers who enjoy stories that blend imagination with emotional depth.

In the end, Haries delivers more than a tale about machines learning to love. He offers a reminder that connection often appears in the most unexpected places, shaping lives in ways no algorithm can fully predict.
