Winners: Marie Louise Stevens Crafts an Edge-of-Your-Seat Story of Strength, Love, and Triumph

Winners by Marie Louise Stevens Brings Suspense, Romance, and Women’s Determination Together

Every victory carries a story that begins long before the finish line. Some journeys demand courage in the face of public pressure, while others require the strength to rise after personal setbacks.

Marie Louise Stevens’ Winners explores exactly that kind of journey, combining gripping suspense with heartfelt romance as two remarkable women fight for their futures in a world where danger hides behind technology.

A High-Stakes Story Where Dreams Meet Real Danger

Winners introduces readers to Kate Skinner and Elise Johansen, lifelong friends whose extraordinary talents have placed them among the world’s elite. Kate is a downhill ski racer preparing for one of the most important competitions of her career, while Elise is an internationally celebrated violinist determined to prove herself on the global stage.

Both women have already experienced painful disappointments. Their hopes of worldwide recognition have been shaken by an invasive spyware worm that exposes deeply personal moments across social media, leaving them vulnerable to humiliation, fear, and constant anxiety. Their private lives become public, their confidence begins to fade, and every step toward success feels more uncertain than before.

As the story unfolds, the emotional burden of cyberstalking becomes just as powerful as the physical threats surrounding them. Every decision carries consequences. Every moment of hesitation could change the course of their futures. Stevens builds an atmosphere where readers experience the emotional weight carried by both protagonists while following an increasingly dangerous mystery.

The novel grows even more compelling as the cyberstalker evolves into a deadly threat. Time becomes the greatest enemy, especially with Kate’s World Cup race approaching. The pressure continues to rise until every chapter feels increasingly urgent.

Romance, Trust, and the Power of Partnership

While suspense drives the action, romance adds warmth and emotional depth throughout the novel. The relationships grow naturally as the characters discover that strength often comes from trusting another person without surrendering their own independence.

FBI Agent Pete Burke has already spent months undercover searching for the creator of the illegal spyware worm. His investigation suddenly becomes personal when he is assigned to protect Kate while unexpectedly falling deeply in love with Elise. At the same time, Kate’s coach, J.P., helps her navigate both the emotional scars left by the attacks and the overwhelming pressure of elite competition. Their growing affection develops alongside the constant danger surrounding them.

These relationships strengthen the narrative because they offer hope during moments of uncertainty. The emotional connections never overshadow the central mystery. Instead, they reinforce the determination each character finds within themselves while confronting impossible circumstances.

As the climax approaches, Pete, Elise, Kate, and J.P. unite in a desperate race against time. With only minutes remaining before Kate’s championship run begins, they must uncover the identity of the cyberstalker before another tragedy unfolds. The countdown creates genuine excitement while reminding readers that every second matters.

A Story That Celebrates Women’s Strength and Resilience

One of the defining qualities of Winners is its unwavering focus on female empowerment. Kate and Elise are accomplished women who refuse to let fear dictate their futures, even after devastating personal attacks threaten everything they have worked to achieve.

Throughout the novel, Marie presents success as something earned through resilience rather than perfection. Previous defeats, lingering insecurities, and emotional wounds become stepping stones instead of permanent obstacles. Each challenge pushes the characters toward greater confidence, showing that true winners are shaped by persistence as much as talent.

The themes extend beyond sports and music. They speak to anyone who has struggled with self-doubt, public criticism, or unexpected setbacks. Readers witness characters choosing courage repeatedly, even when victory appears uncertain. That emotional honesty gives the novel lasting impact beyond its suspenseful storyline.

With its combination of thrilling investigation, heartfelt romance, emotional growth, and timely exploration of cybercrime, Winners offers an engaging reading experience for fans of romantic suspense. Scheduled for release on 27 August 2026, the novel is available for pre-order through Pegasus Publishers, giving readers an opportunity to experience this exciting debut as soon as it arrives.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Hi, thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

I’m a full-time novelist, working on my third book. Winners is my debut book. I started writing novels a few years back when I was having sleep problems and would devote two or three hours in the middle of the night to writing. Now I write during the daytime!

Please share your journey with our readers.

My journey has been from journalism to writing reports and nonfiction documents for clients to finally sitting down and writing the fiction I have wanted to write!

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Strategies I use include writing an outline and scaffolding the book, and doing as much research as possible to help the story ring true. I read a lot, and reading other authors is always a tremendous help. It is also really helpful to have support at home: my husband never asks “what are you doing” when I am sitting and thinking about something for a book!

Writing is a solitary practice, and you have to be comfortable being alone with your thoughts for a long period of time every day. For me, the sense of solitude was not hard, as I had grown up in the world of competitive classical piano and spent hours a day at practice.

Any message for our readers?

I think everyone should try to be a writer. Everyone CAN write. It is like music; it takes practice and the willingness to keep at it. Read a lot, and write: those are the two mantras that I would share with anyone.

Thank you so much, Marie, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
