Victoria Bolton’s The Rude Boy USA Trilogy Delivers a Gritty, Character-Driven Crime Saga

A Crime Saga Born From Style, Dreams, and Ambition

Rude Boy USA Trilogy is the kind of series that pulls readers in quietly and then refuses to let go. Originally published in 2015, this gritty, character driven saga blends crime, culture, and reinvention into a world that feels both dangerous and sharply human. Written by Victoria Bolton, the series explores what happens when power collides with identity and when a past life insists on following someone into every new chapter. Across three core books, the story builds a layered narrative that rewards patience and curiosity, while keeping the stakes personal and intense.

At its heart, Rude Boy USA centers on John LeBlanc, a former mob figure navigating ambition, loyalty, love, and consequence. His journey unfolds across shifting landscapes that include organized crime, business, politics, and media. From the opening pages, readers sense they are entering a world where choices carry weight and reinvention always comes with a price.

Rude Boy USA and the Rise of the Chimera Group

The first book, Rude Boy USA, introduces readers to the Chimera Group, an unconventional crime organization determined to redefine what power looks like. Gone are the old stereotypes of traditional mob families. In their place stands a racially diverse crew inspired by Jamaican Rude Boy culture, complete with sharp fashion, confidence, and a hunger for influence. Bernie Banks leads the group with a calculated vision, starting small in an apartment and building a multimillion-dollar empire through a shell investment company backed by illegal operations.

John LeBlanc plays a crucial role in this rise. Alongside associates Ben and Jerome, he helps shape an organization that values image as much as intimidation. Their style is deliberate. Ray-Ban sunglasses, loafers, and an air of refinement signal ambition that reaches beyond street level crime. Yet ambition attracts attention. Rival families notice. Internal relationships complicate loyalties. When personal desires cross professional boundaries, cracks begin to form. The question that hangs over the story feels inevitable. Can this group reach the top without destroying itself?

BunnyWine and the Cost of Leaving the Life

In BunnyWine, Victoria shifts the focus inward. John is ready to walk away from crime and build something legitimate. He moves to Jamaica, marries Celia “Bunny” Jones, and launches a wine brand inspired by her rise from Playboy Club waitress to business partner. On the surface, it feels like a clean break. Beneath it, the past lingers.

John’s attempt at respectability is complicated by forces he can’t fully escape. A determined prosecutor, Mario Pasquale, is committed to dismantling the remnants of the Chimera Group. His strategy relies on old connections and old habits. When a former associate accepts a deal, violence resurfaces, and the body count begins to climb. Bunny, meanwhile, grapples with expectations that clash with reality. Life beside a former mob boss carries echoes she never anticipated. The novel captures the tension of transformation and the emotional toll of trying to outrun history.

The Tide is High and Power in the Public Eye

The third installment, The Tide is High, brings John back to New York City with ambitions that extend into politics. The Chimera Group resurfaces, now operating in quieter, more calculated ways. John’s charisma and public appeal attract attention from voters and enemies alike. Among them stands Mario Pasquale once again, now facing John as a political rival rather than a courtroom opponent.

Victoria deepens the narrative by introducing media influence through journalist Paul Aaron, whose investigation threatens to expose buried truths. The stakes feel broader, yet intensely personal. Power now exists in headlines and ballot boxes, and the risks multiply. This book serves as the anchor for the upcoming spinoff series, setting the tone for a universe where legacy and ambition intertwine in dangerous ways.

The Author Behind the Universe

Victoria Bolton lives in New York and brings a unique blend of professional experience to her writing. She began writing in 1999 and published her first book under her middle and last name before returning years later with a renewed creative vision. Rude Boy USA emerged from a vivid sequence of dreams influenced by shows like Mad Men and House of Cards, along with the energy of Ska and Punk music. That fusion of style and storytelling defines the series. Victoria is currently working on Scions of Legacy, a spinoff launching in February 2026 that expands the political side of the Rude Boy USA universe.

Rude Boy USA stands as a bold exploration of reinvention, consequence, and the allure of power. Its characters linger long after the final page, reminding readers that the past always leaves fingerprints, even on carefully crafted futures.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

My name is Victoria Bolton. I am a writer by night, a technology teacher by day.

Please tell us about your journey.

I started writing in 1999 and published my first book, Looking for Mr. Potential, under my middle and last name. It was my first experience in book writing, but I had an interesting story in my head that needed to get out. I didn’t publish anything else until 2014. Rude Boy USA was a dream that I had one night that turned into a series of dreams over two weeks. Don’t know what triggered it, but at the time, I was obsessing over the shows Mad Men and House of Cards. I was also into Ska/Punk and got the idea from a song from the Specials called Gangsters. I took the style of Ska/Mad Men and put together a story. The subsequent books are just the continuation of the story/universe. The spinoff book coming in February 2026 is Scions of Legacy, it’s my version of House of Cards, but applied to the Rude Boy USA universe.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Talk to people, and advertise. There is work behind publishing. Unless you are world-renowned, stories need a push to sell themselves.

Any message for our readers

Write what your heart feels. My first book, published in 2000, received mixed reviews, primarily because the cover was polarizing, but those who did read it enjoyed it.  Please don’t go into it for a quick buck. Make sure you love your story. If you were the only person ever to read it, would you defend it, one, five, or even ten years later?

Thank you so much, Victoria, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
