Headcase: A Livé Saga by Thomas Parsons Explores the Thin Line Between Grief and the Supernatural
Some stories entertain from the very first page. Others stay with readers because they reach into emotions that feel deeply personal. Headcase: A Livé Saga belongs to the second category, inviting readers into a haunting world where grief, fear, and imagination become impossible to separate.
As the opening novel in the Headcase series, Thomas Parsons presents a psychological supernatural thriller that delivers suspense while examining the emotional weight of loss and the search for healing.
A Story Where Grief Shapes Every Step
At the heart of Headcase: A Livé Saga is Emmitt Sanders, a young man struggling to rebuild his life after the devastating loss of his mother. Forced to leave behind everything familiar, he relocates with his father to New Orleans, a city already surrounded by mystery, folklore, and spiritual traditions. The change of scenery offers a fresh beginning, yet emotional wounds refuse to fade so easily.
Emmitt finds comfort inside the online fantasy role-playing game Wizard World, where he becomes Eryndor the Healer. Within that digital world, he possesses strength, purpose, and the ability to save others. Outside the game, however, his own emotional pain continues to grow.
As strange experiences begin to unfold, readers are left questioning whether Emmitt is witnessing supernatural events or suffering from a fractured perception shaped by trauma. Every chapter gradually blurs the line between reality and imagination, creating an atmosphere filled with uncertainty. That uncertainty becomes one of the novel’s greatest strengths because it keeps readers emotionally invested while encouraging them to question every new revelation.
The emotional depth gives the suspense genuine meaning. Every frightening moment reflects the internal battles taking place within Emmitt himself.
Psychological Suspense Meets Supernatural Horror
Thomas carefully combines psychological tension with supernatural elements, creating a reading experience that feels layered rather than predictable. Instead of relying only on frightening encounters, the novel explores how unresolved grief can transform the way someone experiences the world around them.
Readers witness Emmitt attempting to hide his pain while convincing others that everything is under control. That quiet struggle makes his journey feel relatable despite the supernatural events surrounding him. His visions may represent mental anguish, hidden truths, or something even darker waiting beneath the surface.
New Orleans also becomes far more than a backdrop. Its unique culture, spiritual traditions, and mysterious atmosphere naturally strengthen the novel’s eerie tone. The setting complements the emotional storyline and helps create an environment where unexplained events feel both believable and unsettling.
The story asks meaningful questions throughout its progression. Can healing truly erase trauma? Does pain create openings for darker forces? How much of personal identity survives overwhelming grief? Those themes continue to develop alongside the suspense, giving the novel emotional substance beyond its thrilling moments.
Readers who enjoy psychological thrillers, supernatural mysteries, horror, and emotionally driven fiction will likely appreciate the balance Thomas creates between character development and suspense.
An Unforgettable Beginning to the Headcase Series
As the first installment in the Headcase series, this novel establishes a compelling foundation while introducing larger mysteries that promise further exploration in future books. The evolving storyline leaves room for deeper discoveries without sacrificing the satisfaction of the current journey.
The emotional realism also separates this novel from many traditional supernatural thrillers. Emmitt’s experiences reflect feelings that many readers understand, including loneliness, emotional isolation, and the difficult process of carrying invisible pain while appearing strong on the outside.
Fantasy serves as both an escape and a possible danger throughout the novel. Wizard World offers Emmitt comfort and purpose, yet it also raises unsettling questions about where imagination ends and reality begins. That tension remains consistently engaging from beginning to end.
The title itself reflects the psychological complexity woven throughout the narrative. Every event encourages readers to reconsider earlier assumptions, making the reading experience increasingly immersive as new layers unfold.
Available on Amazon and Goodreads, Headcase: A Livé Saga offers an excellent entry point into a series that promises psychological depth alongside supernatural intrigue.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
My name is Thomas Parsons, but I’m known among family and friends as Tommy. I am married with three kids and one grandchild. I am a military veteran and have spent the past 30 plus years in the Energy industry.
Please share your journey with our readers.
In my youth, I was an avid comic book collector who enjoyed art and stories. While I have always enjoyed making art and reading, I haven’t started writing until recently. I have always had an expansive imagination and very vivid dreams. In early 2025, I woke in the middle of the night after a dream and took some notes of what I remembered. The more notes I wrote down, the more of the dream memories came to me. After telling my wife about the dream the next day, she suggested I write a book.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I spent countless hours researching and building my writing skills before attempting this project, but learning new skills is something I’ve always enjoyed. This first book series has lots of personal experiences to it, and because it has a mental health aspect, I found it very important to get it published.
Any message for our readers?
I have only been self-published now for a few months but have very much enjoyed interacting with my readers. I have done this primarily through email and Facebook, but just started an Instagram account as well.
Thank you so much, Thomas, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
