The LGBTQ+ community has been oppressed for centuries, and it is only in recent years that the world has begun to change. For many people, life seems simple – you are either gay or straight. But what about bisexuals? Or those who don’t identify as male or female? The controversial topic of gender identity is something that Author Jill Fredenburg discusses at length in her new book “LGBTQ+ Revolution 2.0: A Celebratory Collection of LGBTQ+ Narratives.“
This collection shines a light on the struggles faced by members of this diverse group of humans we call the LGBTQ+ community.
Fredenburg doesn’t hide the aims of the book sharing with readers it’s designed to help you ask and answer these questions:
* How do I figure out if I might be LGBTQ+?
* How do I support my LGBTQ+ child?
* How do I find LGBTQ+ people?
* How do I build community?
And for a community where coming out is misunderstood the book hits the mark. We’ve certainly seen the gay community come much more mainstream than ever, but at the individual level how do you figure out where you fit inside of the LGBTQ+ community? And if you just want to learn about allyship and celebratory self-acceptance, this book offers a unique set of stories and insights to learn from.
The book is an open, honest depiction of life from the point of view of people who are part of its community. No matter your identity, you are bound to find bits and pieces of your own experiences within these pages and will discover that everyone deserves community and love. Laying out the next phase of the community, she looks beyond mainstream gay acceptance into the broader community that is still misunderstood.
“A great resource for Bi+ people and those who know and love them. Bisexuality is much more prevalent than most people realize, but their stories are still relatively invisible and hard to find — this book is changing that. I’ve only read a little so far but I’ve already connected with so many of the feelings and experiences described here. So validating to find people who have been through something similar.”
We find the book to be compellingly written — not preachy and driven by the stories of real people. It has the depth for those in the community, and those wanting to learn more.
