Our music industry had far too few female rappers, and it’s certainly nice to see more women trying out this genre. And if you don’t like rap much, don’t worry. This is not one of those hardcore rap songs. It features just a little bit of rap for added spice to uplift your mood and give you a much-needed boost of confidence and motivation.
It also has a bit of a nostalgic element when Jules highlights her childhood.

Hi, Great to have you with us today! Please tell us about yourself.
I am a singer, songwriter, and performer from all over Pennsylvania. From the city of Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs to the Pocono Mountains.
Please tell us more about your journey.
I have been singing since I can remember. Some of my earliest memories include performances on top of family Thanksgiving tables singing “Tomorrow” from Annie. And pretty much performing and singing to anyone who would watch and listen.
I’ve always had a special connection to music. It has followed me through all the stages of my life. I started songwriting and writing stories when I was in second grade. I wrote my first full song when I was 8 years old. I was a choir and theater kid pretty much my whole young life. I would have solos in the middle school choir, but I really got more serious with the start of high school. I was in community theater, the school musicals, and every choir they offered. I was in concert choir, women’s choir, and the select audition-only choirs like Vocal Ensemble and Vocal Jazz. I had some really great opportunities with those groups. I got to perform the National Anthem at Lincoln Financial Field, and I even performed at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
I graduated high school in 2015 and went on to pursue music in college. I went to Montgomery County Community College and majored in music. I only completed one semester and a half before deciding the college route wasn’t for me.
I had some traumatic events happen that year and actually considered giving up pursuing music altogether.
Spoiler Alert. I didn’t. And I’m so thankful I didn’t.
Please tell us about your music projects.
I released my first single, ‘Breathe,’ under the name ‘Jules.’ in 2019 before realizing that my name Jules Marie was unique to me. (If you look up Jules Marie on Spotify or Apple Music, I am the only one).
I have released 7 singles total till now, including 2 renditions/covers of popular songs and, of course, 5 originals written by me.
My newest single LUCKY, just came out on April 2nd and has been by far my most successful. It already has almost 20k streams in just one week!
That’s HUGE for me. And with all the music I’m working on, I feel like there’s nowhere to go but up!
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I honestly don’t have much of a strategy for success. Having a lot of successful friends in the music industry definitely helps! And I have learned a lot by watching them. I have also just been really focused on being open and real with people, especially with my lyrics. I tend to write about how I view the world and how I view the journey of life. I’m just a person. We all are. I think people really connect with someone who is willing to share their life in their music.
Any message for our readers.
My message is to keep going. Especially when it gets tough or you feel like giving up, or you feel like you’ve gotten nowhere. There are always ways to grow and become whatever version of success is meaningful to you.
