Doja Cat was born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini. She has South African and Jewish heritage and comes from an artistic family. Growing up, she spent a few years at an ashram near Los Angeles.

Professional Life

Doja Cat started her career by releasing music on SoundCloud as a teenager. Her songs caught the eye of record labels, and the artist signed with both Kemosabe and RCA Records when she was just 17, thanks to a popular track titled So High. Her debut EP came out in 2014 under the name Purrr! It was followed by Amala, a debut studio album that came out in 2018. Doja Cat’s most recent album was Planet Her, released in 2021, which produced Kiss Me More, Need to Know, and You Right. All singles ranked in the top 20.
