We had the pleasure of interviewing Juury. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

Hi, Great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about yourself.

Hi, my name is Raymond Chambliss III. I was named after my grandfather, and I grew up in Southeast Michigan. I lived in Detroit for a brief period during my childhood then I moved closer to the border of Detroit and Ferndale with my dad while my mom stayed in Oak Park. In my formative years, I went to schools in Royal Oak, where I finished high school, and if you’re not from Michigan, you will definitely have to google a few of these cities.

What inspires your music?

I’ve always had a passion for poetry and music because of the emotions you are allowed to feel that, otherwise, you may not have. I am a person who pays serious attention to lyrical content and cadence, which go hand in hand, but I also understand that some feelings have no words to describe them. I try to be mindful of this when I’m penning a song or even just freestyling to catch a vibe for a specific instrumental.

I wrote “Cropping Faces” over a different beat originally, but then one of my friends suggested a faster tempo would be better for the lyrics. That’s when I switched beats and noticed the break in the beat would be a great place for the hook. Originally, the song was one long verse, but I cut it in half, which explains why the verses flow so well together. I wrote the song as a reminder to myself that you can’t hold onto all of your relationships and people will come and go in and out of your life. If a relationship is straining, you shouldn’t fight to keep it; you should embrace cropping people out of your frame because if they’re really there for you, they’ll find a way to come back into your life.

As far as my journey musically, I would say it’s only just begun and will continue to grow with me as a person.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

I have found myself to be a very determined person, but one thing about music is that it’s a natural feeling that cannot be forced. I never force myself to write a song. When I get a feeling or a lyrical/melodic idea, I take note of it then I revisit it if I don’t have time to write a song in the moment. I guess my best strategy has been to listen to my instincts when it comes to music and to try something different every song.

Any message for our readers?

I would tell everyone to do stuff they like to do. Don’t just do things because you have to, do things that you actually enjoy. Also, don’t get caught up in the everyday struggle so much that you forget how far you’ve come. Sometimes we get caught up in how far we have left to go on the journey that we don’t enjoy the victories of every day. So enjoy your days and do stuff you enjoy.

Fantastic! So tell us, how can people find out more about you?
