On September 19, 2024, Lucas Nancke and Søren Oliver Due released a musical experience that transcends the ordinary. Their latest project, Sakura & Tadeo, is a concept album that invites listeners on a captivating journey filled with emotional depth and cinematic flair. With a runtime of 24 minutes and 32 seconds spread across nine meticulously crafted tracks, the album offers an immersive experience that is both brief and profound. Inspired by the grandeur of orchestral music and the storytelling elements of anime, Sakura & Tadeo tells the tale of a young girl named Sakura and her loyal dog, Tadeo, as they seek to find their true home.
The Genesis of Sakura & Tadeo
The story of Sakura & Tadeo began in 2022 when Søren Oliver Due, inspired by some of his older demos, envisioned transforming them into something much larger—a project that could capture the essence of anime’s emotional intensity while embracing the richness of orchestral music. Søren’s initial idea was to create sweeping, grandiose themes that could serve as the soundtrack for a short film or perhaps even a TV series. However, as the project evolved, it became clear that the music was strong enough to stand on its own. Thus, the decision was made to release it as a concept album, allowing the narrative to unfold purely through sound.

A Journey Through Sound: The Tracks of Sakura & Tadeo
Each track on Sakura & Tadeo serves as a chapter in the story of Sakura and her dog, Tadeo, as they embark on a journey to find their true home. The album opens with the titular track, “SAKURA,” which sets the tone for the adventure ahead. The music here is both delicate and powerful, reflecting the innocence and determination of the young protagonist.
The second track, “ashitanoame,” translates to “tomorrow’s rain,” and introduces a sense of uncertainty. The orchestral arrangement creates an atmosphere of introspection, as Sakura contemplates the challenges that lie ahead. This is followed by “TADEO,” a piece dedicated to Sakura’s loyal companion. The music in this track is uplifting and spirited, capturing the bond between the girl and her dog.
As the journey continues, the duo presents “旅 journey,” a track that perfectly encapsulates the essence of adventure. The orchestral swell and dynamic rhythms evoke a sense of movement and exploration, as Sakura and Tadeo venture further from home. However, the journey is not without its dangers, as depicted in the next track, “HIDE.” The music here is suspenseful, mirroring the uncertainty that the characters face.
“蘇り resurrection” marks a turning point in the narrative. The title, which means “resurrection” in Japanese, suggests a moment of renewal or rebirth. The music reflects this theme with soaring melodies and triumphant orchestration, signaling a new beginning for Sakura and Tadeo. The following track, “newcomer,” introduces a sense of novelty and excitement, as the characters encounter new challenges and opportunities on their journey.
“新しい友達 new friends” is a heartwarming piece that conveys the joy of companionship and the importance of connections made along the way. The music is light and playful. Finally, the journey culminates with “家 home,” a track that brings the story full circle. The music here is both reflective and celebratory, as Sakura and Tadeo find the place where they truly belong.
Crafting the Sonic Landscape: Anime Meets Orchestral Grandeur
The unique sound of Sakura & Tadeo is a result of Lucas Nancke and Søren Oliver Due’s combined influences and expertise. By drawing on the emotional depth of anime soundtracks and the complexity of orchestral music, the duo has created an album that is both cinematic and deeply personal. Each track is carefully crafted to evoke specific emotions, guiding the listener through the highs and lows of Sakura and Tadeo’s journey.
The orchestral elements add layers of richness to the music, with sweeping strings, delicate piano, and dynamic percussion all contributing to the album’s narrative. Together, they have created a soundscape that is both immersive and evocative, allowing listeners to lose themselves in the world of Sakura & Tadeo.
The Future of Sakura & Tadeo and Beyond
While Sakura & Tadeo is a complete story in itself, Lucas and Søren have hinted at the possibility of a sequel, suggesting that the adventures of Sakura and Tadeo may continue in the future. For now, the album stands as a testament to the duo’s creative vision and their ability to bring stories to life through music.
With its blend of anime-inspired themes and orchestral grandeur, the album offers a unique and captivating listening experience that will resonate with fans of both genres.
As Lucas and Søren continue to explore new ideas and projects, Sakura & Tadeo serves as a reminder of the power of music to tell stories, evoke emotions, and connect us to experiences beyond our own. Whether or not a sequel emerges, this album has already made its mark, offering a journey that listeners will want to revisit time and time again.
We had the privilege of interviewing the Music Artists. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.
Hi, we are Lucas Nancke & Søren Oliver Due. We have made music together for 7 years and recently released our album “Sakura & Tadeo“.
Please tell us about your Latest Album.
Sakura & Tadeo is a concept album, which was started back in 2022 when Søren had the idea of turning some of his old demos into big, orchestral anime-inspired themes. The music grew into being its very own thing, and we quickly decided that it needed to be an album. Narratively, the music tells the story of the young girl Sakura and her dog Tadeo, who travel away from home to find where they truly belong. We initially wanted the album to be the soundtrack for a short film or perhaps a TV series but decided to release the music as is. There may also be a sequel in the works.
Please tell us about your journey.
Søren and I met way back in 2016. We have written many different genres of music throughout the years and are still always pursuing new aspects of music production. Currently, we have two albums in the works, one very much in line with the orchestral sound of Sakura & Tadeo and another one that’s heavily inspired by Rock and Metal. So, there are definitely two very different sides of the coin, haha.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
As far as “strategies” go, we have always put each other before the music. If one person is not feeling it, there’s no need to rush or put a nonsensical deadline on getting a project finished. We’ve gone days and even weeks without writing new music, but it always feels right to get back into it. We also both absolutely love pretty melodies, so that could definitely be a reason we ended up making the music we do!
Any message for our readers
Hope you’re having a great day and will consider joining the journey of Sakura and Tadeo 🙂
Thank you so much, Lucas Nancke & Søren Oliver Due, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
